Interestingly, I raided the kennel and picked my five worst performers:
twr, thl, rmg, boz and blt
These dogs owe me thousands (and thousands and thousands). Bit frightening to think that there are ~50 even worse combinations...

Scamper, at least your dual-entry was a genuine mistake. It would seem there are others out there that feel they need to enter twice (at least) in order to have a chance of competing with everyone else on an even keel. A pretty sad state of affairs really.

Murph, there was a 2:1 share consolidation and 125c payout. Since the start price was 136, you double this to reflect the consolidation and subtract 125 to reflect the payout. This gives an adjusted price of 147.

I don't think I ever got back ot you re the asx div. I set up a watchlist in yahoo finance in comma seperated format of all the picks and you can then change a few viewing formats to give you all the dividends and lots of other information. For a large watchlist it is very nice. P/E's, gains, div, hi, lows, etc.

Interesting that the NZ picks are far outstripping the ASX competition. Ussually its the other way around. Due to resource stocks.

Personally, I sold my remaining NPX yesterday and have only CDL left in NZ.

Was there any particular reason for the sale? It has a reasonable yield and earnings projection of 40%+ on last yr. The chart also looks strong.

I was very reluctant to do this as NPX has been a favourite of mine for quite a while. From face value it looks like it has a lot left in it. However, I needed the money for recent re-purchase of MXI. I possibly should of sold CDL instead but I have already reduced my holding considerably and with recent tourism figures I wanted some exposure.

My logic is that it was easier to make 10-20% over the next few months in MXI than NPX. Sold NPX at 5.30 and bought MXI at 70c last week. MXI currently on 79 so it has payed off so far. The exchange rate is good at the moment as well.

I will contemplate selling 50% MXI after full year ann and possibly put a bit back into NPX.

Just had a look at your postings on the Aussie link.
You are obviously doing very well with your MXI, so good luck.
As you say, you can always come back to NPX so hope you get the double wammy :D.
Personally I think there is a lot of mileage in NPX and it should get a good re-rating after the final result comes out (usually late Aug). ie; eps last yr = 34.1c. Projected 40% increase = projected 47.74cps.
With this sort of growth I think that a higher pe rating could be expected - say 13/15?
At say a pe of 13; 13x47.74c = $6.20 [8D]
At say a pe of 15; 15x47.74c = $7.16 [8D]
Wouldn't that make a great Xmas :D
If this sort of growth was to continue, who would know what the share price could do.

I only hold one stock of those I picked.

People will pick those stocks with the greatest risk sometimes and in real life they'll think twice before they'll put a dollar into it.

It is not good etiquette to comment on other peoples's pickings negatively, particularly if it is done in a regular manner designed to ridicule someone.

Ridicule and aggression are not virtues on any chatsite actually. .

I suppose someone will say: Hey loser.

I can tell you now that last year was one of the best I had but nearly all money was made on Australian and other shares. But my NZ picks in the competition were not great.

This year, starting from 1 April, I am down somewhat but it will improve I think after I get rid of a couple of non performers.

OK, here is the long awaited update to the Stock Pick competition. The value of Onthemoney's picks has almost doubled in 8 months. And Sharetrader members should pat themslves on the back for beating the NZX50 index by an average 5.5% in 8 months. Only 11 out of 133 are in the red, with Eric Watson trailing the pack by a looong way.

And I'm still climbing the ladder, up 94 places since January, only 38 to go.:D

I still own two of my picks (GPG, TWR) but have sold out of some of the others during the year like WHS, SKC. That's the difference between passive and active. The passive return is 34% but actually I (and many other ST punters I'm sure) are well up on that for the year. Also, not equal weightings held either.

But I agree with Belgs point, if you are preapred to pick em for a game, then why not own them.

I have a portfolio and a kennel. The kennel is where I put the dogs in a fit of paralysis...
Last December my kennel comprised BOZ, BLT, RMG, THL and TWR, so I entered them as my five dogs.

Just to demonstrate that dogs can sometimes mutate / change their stripes, TWR and THL have since done very well, but the others should be put down with malice -- am currently 116th and have been way at the bottom all year.

Just a brief note from the sunny north of the South Island.

You show an opening price of 2.5 cents for WPL and a 26 November closing price of 2.2 cents. Both are correct, prima facie. However, I've been remiss in advising you that WPL had a 11 for 10 split in June 2004 (effectively a 1 for 10 bonus issue) and a subsequent 1 for 10 rights issue at 1.7 cents.

A holder of 100 WPL shares in January at a cost of $2.50 now holds 121 shares at an average cost of 2.22 cents (assuming they took up their rights). If they tendered for shares in the rights issue shortfall their notional average cost will be marginally lower.

I'd be most obliged if you could adjust your table to reflect the two issues that have occurred.

The head share you have correctly quoted as 36c (up 157%)

however the rights are trading at 28c.

meaning another 200% is missing from the calc. (start 14c)..I think.

ticker is ROCRB.

This would have a big impact on Cloudnine.
Putting me in 2nd place on 103.2%
and Halcyon9 (the monkey will be in 6th on 74%)

Sec,the final result for IFT should be an increase in value of 26.4% rather than the 20.5 you have given it.
During the year IFT gave a free 1 for 5 issue of IFTWB. That free issue is now worth 82.5 cents,so when i add a fifth of that back to the IFT SP i get a value for holding IFT at 26.4% for the year.

Remember, details of splits, free warrants etc had to be posted on this thread otherwise there was no guarantee I would take them into account.

After 20 plus years in the markets, here, UK, US and more recently China and India ... This has been my second best year ever. And the two best consecutive years by a country mile. (p.s. Those who have been playing off-market in China and India would have had years as good a srothern or better.)

Glad to see almost everyone made money. Belgarion, 2004 was indeed a vintage year. I have been in the market for only 10 years and 2004 was my best ever, with the portfolio up about 80% (being heavily weighted in ASX listed emerging growth companies).

Hope for more of the same this year but will be hard pressed to repeat such a performance, I think. Though with the insightful comments from the sharetrader community which I only became aware of a few months ago I have been alerted to many excellent opportunities. All the best for 2005.
