A little bird has whispered in my ear about this company (about to float in March I think). Have sent for the prospectus, but in the meantime - does anyone have an opinion/any pearls of wisdom. Thanks,

I have had some of these sitting in the bottom draw for a long time. They were a property investment company that changed management and direction and are now a Christchurch based finance company. The value of the shares have been set by the directors over the last year or two, and are now valued at around three times what they were worth a couple of years ago. They have been talking about listing, but it was going to be on the secondary market. I guess the market will set the value of the shares when they list.

I think they list on the ASX tomorrow. It will be interesting to see the price that they trade at. There seems to be quite a bit of interest in finance companies lately.

I did a google search and found these two quotes. I'm not promoting this company, I'm just posting this for your info!

In January Christchurch investment company Avon Investments announced it had formed a joint venture to market a RAM product with US-based Financial Freedom Senior Funding Corporation, which is owned by Lehman Brothers Bank FSB. Financial Freedom is the largest originator of reverse mortgages in the US.

Equity release is a controversial product which allows older people to get loans against the equity in their homes. The interest is rolled up each year with the capital and interest paid back on death or when they sell their home.
Currently only Sentinel, a Kiwi company with operations in Australia, Save & Invest and Christchurch-based Avon Investments offer the product in New Zealand.
