It's definitely down. Could it be due to virus issues as discussed in the virus thread?

Just phoned them. Paradise is down so no web access for anything on Paradise, no time as yet for when things might be sorted.
Let's go and sit in the sun instead, it's nice out there... :)

Gryffyn I don't know a thing about the outage but using paradise the ISP and paradise the host are not the same thing. One could well be down and the other not. It could simply a single server down at Paradise that Access is hosted from.

I thought that was strange too when I went to Paradise's home page after talking to Direct and it was working fine. Anyway, all working fine now.

It could also be related to changes in peering. That is, some traffic that would normal travel only a km or two across wellington is now being routed via Australia. I know that Telstra-Clear (which provide paradise service?) were supposed to be de-peering this week or so.

How big an outage does there need to be for the NZX to halt trading?
Obviously, in this case it was ALL Directs 'active' internet traders who were affected. Was anyone disadvantaged?
Just small fish in a big pond...

Aahh but Direct themselves were not down were they. You could have called them up to execute orders so in reality no one was down. NZX do however halt trading if actual brokerages are down.

Yes BC, but calling them up would require the use of a TELEPHONE!

I was on this morning at around 9am, no probs then, went to make a coffee, came back to put in my sell order and it's down.......
guess I could always ring them to input it.

It's back up.
If using IE the cache may be working against you. Hold CTRL and tap the F5 key a few times. This tells the browser to bypass any proxy servers and refresh the page from the actual source.

Site goes down on 18, 23 & 24 this month. I wonder if they would let us have a free trade as a sign of goodwill?
