Just an observation

The Warehouse would never divulge what the differences were between the board and Greg Muir when he departed other than to say that it was to do with the Australian strategy

I have just looked at the charts for the two companies --- what a difference !

I am not saying that WHS should have stuck with Muir and I dont know the DETAIL of the reasons for their falling out , but the directions that the two companies WHS and PPL have taken since and the results achieved has to make you wonder

I sold WHS when the writing was on the wall , but did not take up PPL
With the value of hindsight perhaps I should have

I agree, whiteheron. In hindsight, Muir's move from WHS to PPL was a SELL/BUY signal if ever I saw one. Like you, I quit the former but didn't have the foresight (nerve) to buy the latter.

Muir had pretty different views on the WHS Australian operation (i.e., to bail out) vis-a-vis the WHS board's (i.e., save face on a poor acquisition) and his stand could've helped the WHS' outlook. However, his involvement with PPL is quite limited and possibly limited to governance and institutional matters. I don't believe for a minute that PPL performance is largely due to his input.

Agreed Patsy. Muir might have seen value in PPL but he also just got lucky.

Hindsight on the WHS is pointless as yet, especially as the results of any strategy directions are still out with the jury.

WHS had a great share price recovery on the news of their NZ cost reduction strategy. My instinct says their results won't deserve it!

PPL are looking pricey too. Got a feeling both will "underperform" in the coming months.
