I am using Incredible Charts to trade the ASX. Total cost for Incredible Charts is about Aus$ 20 per month. I have thought about using Metastock, the cost of the Metastock package is about Aus$ 800.plus ongoing data cost. Just wondered if the initial cost for Metastock would be justified. Any advice from users familiar with both systems?.
Sorry, can't really help much, I use free version of Incredible charts, (18 hour delayed) (kind of suites me, as only really look at charts over weekends) didn't want to subscribe (pay) for it if I can't get NZX data. Would happily subscribe if they had NZX data (trade both ASX & NZX )
Metastock price tag put me off. To justify this cost, you would really have to be a full time trader.
Interested to hear other opinions.

Hi folks,
For most traders, Incredible Charts has more-than-enough
technical tools and indicators ..... especially, as Kura
says, for part-time traders.
-----
However, Metastock does have some good specialised features
for Gann traders and time cycle traders, as well as the
advantage of being able to program your own indicators
and explorations (if you want).
There's a number of sites that can supply FREE Metastock
EOD data, but REAL-TIME data is very expensive in Oz.
-----
One very reliable real-time data service in Oz, is webtrade.
Nice, simple and clear charts, along with streaming data and
separate ticker for A$82.50/month .....
------
So, that's been our own solution for a long while now
and it has worked well, with a minimum of downtime:
Webtrade for live data and remote access for watchlists, etc.
Metastock EOD only
Free Incredible Charts for an online back-up.
Plus whatever resources are available, from the online broker.
happy days

What kind of functionality do you get from the paid version of incredible charts. Cant you change the parameters of indicators, or are just stuck with defaults (e.g., RSI(15)). Just curious. I mostly use bigcharts for ASX (realtime available), but am a bit frustrated for NZX, but have taken to using reuters for the NZX (mainly because they offer hassle-free OBV).
Limegreen, seems flexible enough if you want to tweak indicators, but as Yogi says you can't program your own indicators from scratch. (not that I would ever want to anyway) Just try it for yourself, first month has free live data, if you don't subscribe after first month, then you can keep using it, but you just don't get the live data (18 hour delayed)

The cost for Incredible Charts is A$18/month.Data is updated hourly, and you can change the parameters of the indicators.
It would be better if they had NZX data. Queried that once and IC said that they couldn't get NZ data at the right price. Must be an opportunity there for a NZ supplier.
Limegreen, what is the address for Reuters data?
