Bought some of these to put in the "NEVER SELL" catagory last week at $7.29 ... stock now trading up at $7.77 . Never seen it mentioned here so don't expect alot of feedback but worth a try !!. Co. announced approval gained for a huge new windfarm in WA yesterday. West Australian stocks seem to be doing very well at the moment ... WAN,WES,all the mining stocks ... Perth must be really buzzing !!

Disc: Hold 2250 ALN

or anyone with knowledge of this share
See this has had a pull back to $6.20s
Think it is worth looking at with all the action happening surrounding it
Any thoughts out there[?]

I think well worth looking at round this price,
I hold Envestra, chosen mostly on size and that it operates in the Eastern states. Both I think are stapled securities, and have an attraction for us oldies,I am not sure if ALN does the same as ENV,
but with ENV each years dividend, round 10cps if I remember,is a mixture of smallish div and significant return of loan capital, gives very high cash return because of minimal tax.As well they have just announced, repeating again for this year another SPP where you can invest back up to a further $5000.Yearly average return has been better than 10% tax paid, better than bonds for my old mum.

Old Rider mentioned ENV, which was a share I posted as a possible buy in May 2002 around 84/86c. (Now archived).
Recently has been up to $1.12 and currently seems to be in an ABC correction/or consolidation, but still worth watching for a possible reversal/breakout.

I do like this baby, I think the cheap way to get into it is by buying into the rights and excercise it when it is due. Can any of the investors tell me what is the code for ALN rights ?[8D][8D]

Is this an indicator of NGC's value if AGL decide to put there holding up for sale should they get a green light on Edison?

I hope so.

Had a fall today, I wonder what is wrong.........?????????[?][?]

Cash call is pretty heavy Jim ... 3 for 7 at 5.50 ... short sighted people ( or holders who haven't got any spare cash ) may be selling their ords to pay for their rights entitlement or just selling the rights which is dragging down the ords. Either way ALN is a long-term utility type hold for me and this is a great opportunity to add a quality co. at a good price to your portfolio. Don't let short term noise distract you from the long-term objective !!

according to fib levels we are sitting at around the 50% retracement level(thanks to alpha for that)looking at how perfectly it has confirmed all the higher fibs I have no doubt it will get down there, being the 61.8% which would equate to 5.50 check out alnr down 16% and looking more than average
trade well
stop loss as alwyas

I bought some ALNR at 0.50 yesterday and was surprised when the contract I received today I was told to pay the final price of A$5.50 plus the 0.50.
Well luckily I have enough fund to cover or else I will be in the sh#@$t.
Can any of the punters explain why ? I bought it at Access.[xx(][xx(]

Certainly some support in this area but there is the possibility of more downside IMO.

Also any upside will have to bridge those gaps before it can move
forward confidently.

Opinions please is it going up or down from here TIA

Hi arco,

here is the chart I use for ALN - very solid TA trade. I agree it could retest $5.95, even 5.50 if things got messy on the markets but I like how it held that support so well.

Note the ongoing Distribution though.

Cheers,

Hello Alpha C

The way I see it is there could be a major correction underway, and [u]if</u> support at $5.50 breaks we may look at the possibility of $4.90 or lower - say perhaps even $4.10

Hi arco,

based solely on the performanace of ALN the last time it visited $5.50 I would have to say I doubt it will break. Typically the hint is placed there when a stock trades to a critical support which in this case was ALN's 61.8% fibonacci level - sags through either intraday (or days) and THEN recovers for a while. This fall imo was very healthy and well supported.

Time as always will tell I guess. It was a nice trade up for a scalping but from here its gambling imo.

arco when you refer to a major correction underway are you refering to the retrace this week, and that you see that as atop, and from here on down
I just found the post a little hard to follow(yes I am thick)trade well

Anybody have any future thoughts on this one.

AlphaCenturian

$6.90 is very important to ALN. Its been more or less an unfettered run from the perfect 61.8% Fibonacci bounce at $5.50 to here. A decisive break through $6.90 would be impressive but I would be taking profits now and looking for a pullback to retest lower supports. Volume has been declining noticeably until today.

Mind you, I'm chasing capital gains rather than buy and hold dividend yielders so I prefer to take reasonable gains off the table when they present themseves.

Cheers,

ALN still rising as at today (as suspected). Historically, the maximum fibonacci EQUIVALENT (I do not follow fibonacci as such, but his principles have similarities to mine in some regards) ALN has reached over the past year have been 50.46 (week ending 10 October 2003), 50.47 (week ending 20 Feb 04), and at this time is not near that (but approaching within 1-2 weeks). Because fib max mean is 61.8 +/- about 3to4% (60-64), and that ALN had anounced some very good results, it would not suprise me that the wave this time may go higher than the historical maximum. So there are 2 possibilities. It will reach average wave high or just above soon and soften, or continue higher. This question cannot be answered today, but may be answered by Friday.
