Board of Directors
Chairman
Stuart Johnstone is a company director and investment banker. Stuart was a life office investment manager in Wellington, before moving to Auckland in 1979 to become head of research, then an investment banker and a partner of stockbroking firm Buttle Wilson. In 1986 he retired from Buttle Wilson to jointly establish and list new investment bank Hamelyn Group, which in 1989 he transformed into credit services company, Creditcorp Holdings. He was (non-executive) Chairman and the largest shareholder of Creditcorp until its takeover by Baycorp in 1994. From 1989 until 1993, Stuart was also an investment banker with Fay, Richwhite & Co., during which time he was a member of the team that managed the International Initial Public Offering of shares by Telecom Corporation of New Zealand. Since 1994, when Stuart acquired a shareholding in GDC, he has been a Company Director and has operated in sole practice as an investment banker. Stuart oversaw the Initial Public Offering of shares and listing of Briscoe Group in 2001 and is also a non-executive director of that company.

Executive Director
Ross Jenkins has been a senior figure in the technology industry in New Zealand for the last 15 years, most recently as a significant shareholder and the key operational director at Computerland New Zealand at the time it was sold to Telecom. Ross took up the position of Managing Director at GDC Communications in October 2005.

Non-Executive Director
Geoff Lawrie was appointed Managing Director of GDC Communications effective from 1 January 2003, and held this position until October 2005.

Prior to this, Geoff was the Managing Director of Microsoft New Zealand for six years until 31 March, 2002, after which he was appointed General Manager, Strategic Development, for Microsoft in the Asia Pacific Region. Rather than relocating overseas to meet the increasing demands of this role, Mr Lawrie decided to remain in New Zealand and in doing so accepted an invitation to become GDC's Managing Director.

During his employment with Microsoft, Geoff received the Frank Gaudette Builders Award from Bill Gates; an award given periodically in Microsoft to individuals in recognition of their strategic contribution and leadership in the company. As Managing Director of Microsoft New Zealand, Geoff negotiated the market alliance and $300 million investment in Telecom and worked with the Government on the Digital Opportunities project.

Non-Executive Director
Wayne Singleton spent 21 years in the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) in various roles including operational flying tours, electronic navigation and communications systems integration, and communications training. He resigned from the RNZAF in the rank of Wing Commander in 1986. From 1986 to 1990, Wayne was a Senior Manager with GEC New Zealand Limited and subsequently a Director and then Managing Director of GEC Plessey Telecommunications Limited. He joined Telecom as Managing Director of the Telecom Equipment Group in 1990. During 1993 and 1994 until the time of his resignation, Wayne oversaw a major restructure of the logistics operations of Telecom as General Manager of Logistics. In 1994, Wayne and business associate Dr. Alan Jamieson, acquired substantial shareholdings in GDC, and Wayne was appointed Managing Director. Wayne managed the recruitment and appointment of additional managers and operating personnel and set about improving the Company's structure and performance, lifting GDC to breakeven profitability during 1995 and achieving strong revenue and profit growth an

Wayne Singleton of GDC would have to take some credit. He did a stint as CEO in the mid 90’s after 21 years with the RNZAF.

It must have been Wayne who taught his fellow directors the art of ‘flying by the seat of their pants’: this technique allowed them to defy gravity, that is up until now.

Looking back though, they didn’t really stand a chance after Telecom pulled the plug.

These guys would have known that, and yet they continue to milk it to the death.

Perhaps I was a little colourful, but they had a knack of promising onething and delivering a different result.Still,my fault for hanging in there(at the time),which is a thing of the past now.

No, you can be sued even if something is your personal opinion.

Unless you are attacking a high profile figure in the newspaper, tv, or radio you would have to be unlucky to face prosecution over it. Although this forum is in the public domain, to make a defamatory remark against someone is par for the course.

If you make a strong accusation and bring it out in the public then make sure you have your facts right. At least we are not like the USA where if you look at your neighbors cat you can get sued

lanenz, Are you sure about that? I always thought the defamation laws in the US were quite lax. Am I out of date?

Ex ITC director is running Cat mus Thing, I wonder where too. Obviously he and his partner were selling own shares sometimes ago above 30c mark. But once he will step down to ‘look at new business opportunities’ CT Limited fun club will be done.
So far this share does not fit anywhere close to Warren Buffets earnings /intrisic value ideas. Casualty will apply only to glass bowl readers.

Pimpit,

Interesting comment from someone who had to be informed just four weeks ago that the CEO's name wasn't Bradford.
