P.E Ratios

I'd be interested to hear anyones's opinion on PE Ratios, and
wether they influence your decision to put on a trade.

I've been looking at a few stocks lately, with wildly differing
PE ratios, for example SDI, around 30, and AVJ, around 8. Does
the PE Ratio really give an indication of how "expensive" a stock
is? Does it give a guide to when it might be too late to join
an uptrend?

with regard to sdi in particular, they couldnt be given away at under a buck.I know the dental bussiness , and for the life of me I cant understand what the hell it is doing up ther, BUT thats the market, to me it looks damn expensive, again the market likes it dont fight it
pe,s differ depending on length of trade etc but imo is only a small factor BUT i am only a short term trader
