Red- I am expecting the coy to release a quarterly update later this month and the AGM is on July 25... last year they got off to a flyer in the opening quarter and then had the hiccup, as you mentioned.

My feelings are yes Red, but I do not have any facts to back up these feelings...just call it a hunch.

I think it's bad.
They already have a IT dept, codeblue. The modern workplace is now a amalgamation of IT, print technology and voice. A company like CTG could of effectively owned workplace, providing all the IT support and hardware as well as an integrated PABX such as Avaya's IP office.

Thats where the future lies. Even telecom can see that.

Seems to be a little more interest in this share of late...up 25% this week after being camped around the 36 cent mark for the last 2 months..is something up here?
Chart suggests a long-term trend line break has occurred but difficult to confirm with such low volumes.

Redzone - for my own learning where do you get this information on buying by top 20 shareholders - as I cannot see any NZX disclosures regarding this.

"still very strong ...looks good...some nice buying by top 20 shareholders"

if they dont hold over a certain percentage they dont need to inform the nzx

Thanks Redzone I am aware of the requirement to advise NZX of shareholdings over 5%.

My question is regarding your statement
"...some nice buying by top 20 shareholders".

Where does one access such information?

Is someone trying to ramp the shares here?? I hear a story about some lost litigation that could cost CTG some dough? Shame the analyst's don't care about small caps otherwise we could get better oil. Redzone, what do you know about that?

I know nothing....like i have said before I check the top 50 share holder list and check who is buying and who is selling...certainly no selling and a couple of very interesting LARGE buyers...so Puka take that as you like..maybe you should spell out what you believe you know....

I made some enquiries about CTG about 2 weeks ago when price started lifting - all i could learn was the company "may" be for sale.

[NOTE -this is unconfirmed and may not be correct.]

I sold this morning. Happy to take a profit from this. Something sure is up but I didnt think they were going to report any profit rise due to the same old story about fuel costs and training expenses. I didnt see a sale coming tho :(

Looks like CTG is going the same way as GDC went...

Cabletalk Group Ltd (CTG) received advice from TelstraClear (TCL) late yesterday that it had made a decision to appoint another service provider to undertake contracted TCL's field services in the South Island.

The Directors are currently assessing the financial impact of TCL's decision
on the Group but TCL's decision will be detrimental to the Group.

In the interim, the Directors are working towards an orderly transition of
services to TCL's preferred service provider to ensure minimum disruption to
staff and services and to ensure that maximum value is obtained by Astute for
the transfer of its investment in TCL's business to TCL's new service
provider.

In line with the announcement to NZX on 7 March 2008, the Directors are
continuing to address all options. Discussions are continuing with an
interested party operating in the telecommunications sector. The outcome of
these discussions are uncertain at this time.

I've watched CTG for years but have never bought, but with a market cap now what, 600k? They must be fairly good value, even in a wind up, NZX gives them an NTA of like 9cps. Still haven't bought but would be interested to hear what any holders/experts here think?

Even the board doesn't have a clue...

Downer buys Cabletalk subsidiary (http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/3/story.cfm?c_id=3&objectid=10506014)
The board was unable to advise about the impact for shareholders and the business

Do the press actually proof-read what they print?!

There were actually no trades yesterday, but at a guess I would say that they really mean "over the last 12 months"...

Cabletalk losses grow (http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/3/story.cfm?c_id=3&objectid=10513598)
Cabletalk Group has reported a full year net loss of $6.8 million, compared to a loss in the previous year of $492,000. Last week, shareholders approved plans for Cabletalk to sell its telecommunications contractor Astute Ltd to Downer EDI Engineering, after losing a key contract to the Australian company.

The purchase was for around $5 million, with the company hoping to be able to indicate how much cash will be left in the coming weeks. Cabletalk's shares tumbled from 47c to 2.5c yesterday.
