Lawso, About August 05 you posted an extremely interesting article on your investments in Cavalier. I kept it, but can no longer find it. Could you repeat it, and perhaps bring it more up-to-date?

I think this is the thread you are looking for?

As once pointed out by Paper Tiger, Google is often the best way to search on ST :)

Thanks, goodguy, and also Lizard for locating the thread. Looking back, it makes pretty interesting reading. Phaedrus is right, of course. Had I been a trader, or even an active investor back then instead of a buy-and-holder, I would have had an exit strategy and reduced my holding once the Feltex fiasco and talk of a housing downturn began to impact on CAV's s p. I am now more savvy, thanks in part to what I've learnt from Phaedrus and others on ST, but have held on to my 20,000 CAV while the price has stuck in a mid to low 300s rut. But they've cost me nothing and still provide a useful dividend. But instead of being my No. 1 NZ stock, worth somewhere in six figures, it is now No. 4, behind AIA, FBU and CEN, and roughly equal in value with my PFI.
Would I buy more CAV? Probably not, unless and until there were clear signs of an upturn. But for those who look for income and low-risk there are worse buys than CAV on the NZ market.

Lizard, thanks just what I wanted. Now I wonder if you could exlain a bit more about using google to find something like this. What are the exact steps? Pardon my ignorance but when I was at school high-tec was learning to use an abacus.

In this case, I just typed lawso+cavalier into the google search box. It gave 84 hits, but the aforementioned thread was second on the list so easy to spot. The best results are achieved when you can link two relatively unusual words - i.e. searching for posts by Lizard is a little less reliable. :)
