Can't find any existing thread on this one, but I just want to say a belated "thank you" to someone on this Forum who brought BBW to my attention a few months ago (on another thread). I followed it up, did some thinking, took the plunge, and have gained 35% to date.
Wind power is a sexy product these days, and BBW have interests in operating windfarms in a number of countries. They even have an interest in our own NZ Windfarms.

It's certainly been a rocky road since then. SP has proved to be very volatile for an energy stock where the raw material is 'free'. Price seems to go up and down more in line with hope, expectation and despair more than for any logical reason.

I bought at $1.65, promptly went down to about $1.30 a month or so ago. The price of wind has remained the same.

I'm still holding, notwithstanding the reversal of my original gains. I am not a fundamentalist greenie but I have become increasingly aware of the greater interest being shown by mainstream investors in alternative energy. Also, I await the results of the restructuring review that the company recently announced they were undertaking.

SP has certainly recovered since my last post, now back up to $1.65. The restructuring, particularly putting the European wind farms up for sale seems to have been at least part of the driving force to SP improvement.
There was certainly publicity in the European press about BBW's proposed sale but there has been no mention of any solid interest yet. Positive publicity about meeting the EU's alternative energy targets.
Has anyone heard of any solid interest yet?

I must be psychic. Just published in the UK Times is the following...

"International Power is understood to be running the rule over a possible bid for Babcock & Brown’s European windfarm activities, which are estimated to be worth between €2.5 billion (£1.9 billion) and €3 billion.
The business is one of the largest portfolios of windfarm assets to come up for sale in Europe.
The package includes operating assets spread across Portugal, France, Spain, Greece and Germany, as well as several development projects that are due to come on stream between now and 2010".

The article gives a brief overview of the activity in USA and Europe, who is selling and the possible buyers.
