Today, NZO broke above the trading range that it has been in for well over 2 years. At a practical level, it pays not to be too pedantic and precise about such things, though. Take a look at the previous trading range and you will see occasional "outliers" where price action went outside the trading range by a cent or so and then returned. This has not happened in this trading range, but there is always the possibility that todays breakout will be only a fleeting aberration. I would be very surprised if that is the case though. Look at the similarities between the two trading ranges. Each lasted about 2 years and each showed a very clear OBV breakout well before the trading range breakout. This is as it should be because OBV is supposed to be a "leading" indicator, triggering Buy signals ahead of price movement.
A nice tidy chart, posted for Big Bob who also asks if I can give him an inkling of where NZO might go. Sorry BB - I can't see into the future, but since NZO has been in an uptrend for 3 months, the odds are that the answer is "Up".

Phaedrus thanks for your effort. While good to have this the graph in fact is understating the case. That is because we have had a option conversion and two placements and a cash issue during the trading fram you are refering. In my case i exercise my options and fully took part in the cash issue. So now i only need the SP to be 1-09 to be the same as the previuos high of 1-28.
Graphs like this are best when no outside influences are occuring like i mentioned.Still it is good to have this but the facts are that the situation is better than that. And i think it will get better still and is long overdue.

Should we all put on black armbands to mourn the impending death of the 10,000-plus post, 885-page monolith? [8D]
It should be a rite of passage for all new ST members to read the NZO thread from day 1. How long would it take to read through all 885 pages? Even J K Rowling would be proud of that one [8D]

Good on ya Blocky
I put in for a heap of PPRC. Broker say's I may
not get them all. They may not do well at the start but once the Carry Trade gets the ars &
the NZ$ drops, I think I'll be happy.

I think you are right BB, patience may be required.
One of our boys had $15g with B Corp, as advised by Swains, he is not so happy !!

From what I hear Blocky, Swains don't seem to have the best rep.

Just looking at a crude oil chart I can see an upward sloping, inverse H&S - it's right on the neckline at the moment. If this is the case then crude could rapidly move to $90.
What's your opinion Phaedrus?

Mike, I have only just now seen your query! Here is a chart of Brent oil. You can see that it is in a steady long-term uptrend with a confirmed trendline in place (Blue). I have also marked medium-term trendlines in green (Up) and red (Down) along with their associated Sell and Buy signals. A chart like this gives a good "overview" of all oil stocks. For example, anyone buying NZO at the same time as the Brent buy signal (green arrow) would have bought right at the bottom of the current uptrend - well before any technical buy signals were generated by NZO itself.
This is a very clear simple chart and I see no point in looking for complications like Head & Shoulder patterns - or anything else for that matter. I also don't see much point in speculating as to future price action. No-one knows how long any particular uptrend will continue or how far it will run. It is enough to hold uptrending stocks and monitor the uptrend. Similarly, I see no point in trying to predict (guess) what NZO or any other stock will be by some date in the future. So long as the uptrend is still intact, I don't give a toss - the future can look after itself.

Forgot to thank you for this thread Phaedrus - of all the posts on NZO your bit on TA has been the most compelling to time an entry into NZO
Believe all the stuff written over the last 2 years (ie throughout the trading range) .... invest elsewhere and make money ..... and then when TA gives the signal buy into NZO and see what happens .... thanks a lot mate for the wink .... all i was waiting for
