My daughter has just sold a house in the UK and will repatriate the money back to NZ. She has heard of Halo Financial Ltd, which appears to be a NZ company offering free currency transfers for sums over $ 50,000.
Halo also offers a daily currency email, and FX dealing. The Dealing Director is Sam Stanley.
Does anyone have any info on Halo at www.halofinancial.com (http://www.halofinancial.com)

I havent heard of them but I also havent heard any bad news about them.
Their testimonial page looks promising.

Don't know anything about them, but why would they want to do it for free.
Must be catch somewhere, or is it only if you are a client of theirs??
Don't always believe testimonial pages, anyone could write it.
Advantages - much better rate looking at their blurb
Can see a need if your have regular income from overseas - that looks like a good option.
It seems a bit vague to me what their service is exactly.... yes theres plenty of words but other than doing the deals and the mechanics of the money flow (which admittedly is a bit more complicated when they must be physically settled) then I just thought it was a way of getting repatriation monies involved in speculation
Their contract options page didnt even offer actual 'options' which to my mind would be a valuable service if I was moving real money.
But I could be being cynical.
(Who me?)

After doing a bit of research, it appears that major bank charges are around NZ$ 10-20 at each end of the transaction. So not a major consideration if one is moving say, $200,000. I will advise the daughter to stick with a bank for peace of mind.
