Hi all,

What's the best way to buy Put options on ASX shares?

Dont buy puts now....

you're too late....
wait for the next rally.... plus VOL is so high that puts cost a fortune

Short futures instead via a provider like CMC
but i'd be cautious right now.... there is probably only 200 pts left in this move, before a bear bounce

I have specific companies in mind rather than the index

I'm also interested in ways to buy puts on ASX-listed stocks. Any suggestions?

I actually bought some Westpac yesterday, and bought put protection at the same time. First time I've hedged. Probably the market has bottomed and I wont need the protection, but it gave me peace of mind when entering the market at a volatile time. Today I'm happy as the stock is nearing my break even point.

I did consider trading puts during the recent bear market, but costs were so high with the volatility, and I didn't know for sure how long the bear trend would be (won't trade options against a trend), so didn't have the confidence to go in that way.

I'm better at bullish strategies like selling puts or call buy/writes.

I use a broker to buy or write puts/calls. Its easier to deal with the spreads that way, I think.
