The Aussie market has steadily recovered back to the 6000 level (All Ords)

http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/interchart/interchart.asp?symb=AU%3Axao&draw.x=54&draw.y=17

Will it continue rising or will there be an end-of-financial-year sell off by investors reorganizing their portfolio for tax purposes?

Have your say!

I went with the alternative option...

Who knows

There may well be some tax selling pressure during June...

The US is on life support & the DOW isnt out of the woods either...

The ASX Energy/Alternative Energy sector & high oil prices seems to be holding the ASX up at present.

The next major US reporting season will direct where the ASX goes IMO.

I too went with the Alternative option.

Why? because the ASX always seems to play LAPDOG to other world events/economies and cant really think for itself.

It also loves to play hostage to other world circumstances and it basically doesnt have a brain of its own. If it had a pulse, it would be a pulse from some electric shock some other country gave it to resuscitate it..lol

I am with Shasta. We are in for a short sharp downwards jolt and even my oilers may get knocked around like they were in January.

Sorry to be so gloomy. The yanks are going to have to suck in real hard...for a long time.

GWB is going to go out as the worst performing President of all time.

Bermuda... GWB worst performing President???? The media inside the US and the media outside the US certainly have different viewpoints. I wouldnt say that GWB was the most popular President, Clinton went out VERY unpopular within the US. NZ loved him for his smooth talking etc.

To me it comes back to the media....

The US is in the same position as NZ is............ time for change, Labor is past the use by date. Helen needs to go...

Obama?? ...time will tell.... but it is certainly time for change. The US will bounce back. I wouldnt count them out!!;)

Hi Oiler,
As you say, time will tell. For America it is going to be a long time. Short sharp correction coming up. I will just have to batten the hatches and battle it out.

GWB.....doesnt do any proper research. Gungho. Shoots from the hip. Could have put Saddam in exile for a paltry 1 billion pounds.

Instead he 'manufactured' ( fabricated ) Weapons of Mass Destruction.

What a breath of fresh air Obama will be.

Hi Guys ,
I dont know if Bush is the worst but from an international stand point he surely has to be the most hated and the stupidest.

Thing is, its a crooked trail to the top of the heap so Im not sure how fresh the air will be when his replacement take charge and I suspect who ever it is will find him of her self in a very similar situation economically as David Lange did when he took the over from muldoon

Although Bush is certainly the most hated US President in the international arena, at the same time "Dubya" is definitely one of the funniest too:

Be careful trading on Monday and subsequent days: DOW nosedive on Friday might cause some instability in All Ords and depending on oil prices, DOW may resume its downtrend again this week which might translate into bears taking control...

Sold off most of my holdings today to lock in profits while da going is good... only holding GLXO (free-carried now since it has gone up 150% since started thread) and BLKO (sold half after going up 60% today) now, 90% cash, I am bit scared of the DOW at the moment.

XAO looks like its heading to 5700, and if it falls below that things might get ugly. However, I hope that won't be the case and I am proven wrong but I never liked June as a month due to tax closing.

Thats why i too, am holding onto the ESG funds...

Have very promising & vastly undervalued targets, but know i'll get them cheaper if i wait.

We break thru the 5700 level then we could see 5300-5400

Tommy, tax loss selling?

People might not make much profits this year at all to offset losses against their gain. This year is a different year to the last 3.

The Dow was scaring me a bit with their rise but it has drop just as quick lately.

Hi soulman,

I am more than happy to be proven wrong, but cannot help being a total chicken... I hate getting caught with my pants down, if you know what I mean!

Wow, AA

Those are impressive charts there, how on earth did you do that? Thanx for posting dude!!

However I have no idea what those colorful charts imply due to my poor charting skills (I prefer candlesticks... anything beyond that is too complicated for me!!)
Can you explain?

Cheers mate :-)

mmm, US futures looking good at the moment but still not sure whether we are heading towards an All Ords nosedive pretty soon.

Anyway, I have decided to act on my instinct and sold off the last of my babies (GLXO and BLKO) for the sake of getting good night sleep, now 100% cash.

If I am getting nervous over nothing, then so be it (I'd rather feel like an idiot than lose profits... I can always buy back in).

Hi Tommy,

I think sitting on the sideline is a good strategy. I wished I stayed on the sideline but I just set my price now and if it gets in, it gets in. A lot got in lately and down even more after that. I think the rise was too quick and might drop to about 5700, then who knows.

I am betting that NAB will hunt SGB down and offer 1.1 of their shares for SGB. Todays rise in SGB might be the begining of a T/O war between WBC and NAB.
