Winner - I think you are being vexatious. That chart is simply a reminder of the "house of cards" characteristics that can develop in stocks when financial "good-times" get extrapolated too far and the assumptions are compounded by a little financial engineering.
This is not the end of the world... it is an overdue spring-cleaning.

when has the world been problem free?
ot put another way, when has the world been certain?
uncertainty is beautiful. embrace. without it, the stockmarket would be perfectly priced and we'd never make a quid.

Lizard .......... just because Helen Clark used the word vexatious today doesn't mean you need to use it as well .... whether in the context of 'troublesome' or 'annoying' or 'provocative' I am not clear
But doesn't what you say suggest that may (just maybe) it might take some time for order to br reestablished ..... before the clever people of the world find something else to engineer

It is funny how the professional advisors keep telling us to buy until the market reaches a near bottom and then they tell us to sell and hold cash.... ROFL.. what a laugh.

Winner - I was rib-poking you for being provocative... missed Helen's version - must be something in the Wellington air that brings the word "vexatious" to mind today. :)
I would expect it to take time for imbalances to work their way out of the system. But the stock market will most likely start to "look through" that process before the end point is reached. It's a regular process in one form or another and one you've probably watched close-up more times than I have, so I'm willing to acknowledge your superiority in these matters.
