I thought it was appropriate to have a retail stock thread since the retail sector is at a all time low. Share price in most retail stocks are at an all time low and continue to trend lower.
When is it time to enter these very cheap retail assets?
The problem is that further future downgrades will continue to destroy the sp. It is looking very ugly out there.
I am keeping an eye on the retail sector. One of these days I will have to buy into it. But just not now.
Hallenstein Glasson signals net profit drop

I am keeping a close eye on the retail sector. In particular, these stocks interest me. Your views?

Hoop, you maybe right with the exception of BGR which is always on sale. Their customers only shop at BGR when there is a sale on. Those flat screen TVs are looking very cheap.

All of the above retail stocks have gone for trendy crappy merchandise and once the customers decide they want value for money they are dead. Postie catered for conservitive people still have some the range they used to have but now so poorly made in China none of fits.

A bit of a sweeping statement, Possum.
Jan C seems to still like the fit!

MacDuffy Jan has allready got the most useful bit of Postie and is she going to let them cancel her shares as part of the deal for Arbuckles. The last I saw was price still to be agreed for Arbuckles. And I will bet Jan does not shop at postie.

People are finally realising debt is debt; a few years ago their house was say worth $200k they had $150k on the mortgage, equity $50k, 2 years latter house worth $300k but bought the new Falcon, maxed up the cards to say $50k all on the mortgage, equity now $100k but debt now $200k and thats the crunch, equity up $50k but so is that debt - result poorer by $50k!

Hog version: debt costs, theoretical worth doesn't pay.

Capital retailers' sale of woe
The store manager paces to and fro like a caged polar bear while her shop assistant stands by idly punching the buttons on her cellphone.
