View Full Version : Exit Poll - which Party got your tick

The Americans do it so perhaps we can do. What about an exit poll on how you actually placed your Party Vote. No reasons need – but just show on the poll where you put your tick. I’ve just gone and cast my vote in a very busy polling station. But at least I won’t have to stand in the queues on Saturday.
No surprise but mine went to ACT. I figured a vote for National was pretty much a vote for Labour and since I can’t bring myself to party vote Labour someone else had to get the tick. ACT is worthy for a variety of reasons, if for no other than they are the only main party not supporting the climate change proposals. NZ needs help to ensure we aren’t dragged into a even more socialist era and this is my way of doing it.
My electorate vote, in the end went to no one as I just couldn’t bring myself to vote for Nationals Brownlee. He’ll get in anyway so I’m sure we’ll see him fulfilling his role on the front benches.
Had I been in the next electorate my tick would have gone to either the ACT or Labour candidate.

I haven't voted yet but my party vote will definitely go to Act. I'm in a Labour stronghold, so my electorate vote is a bit useless, but I'll give it to National - they're the only one who could ever get a look in.

Initial exit poll results, with 7 Sharetrader votes in, shows National with 43% of the vote. This along with ACT 28% provides for a National ACT Coalition.
There are no votes in from key electorates but Minimoke has had spies out in the Workingmens Clubs in Sydenham, the hairdressing salons in Ohariua and old folks homes in Tauranga. There have even been whanau out in the Maraes around the country. Using a complex set of algoritms, secret funding from an unnamed off shore business person and the use of a super computer the following is how the seats will look.
ACT 32 Seats
The Greens 16 seats
Jim Andertons Progressive 2 seats
Maori Party 5 seats
NZ First 16 seats
National 50 Seats
United Future 2 seats
Total MP's 123.

So that's it then. The end of nearly 100 years of class warfare waged by the Labour Party. Not even a shicker of hope for Helen and her merry band. The party completed gutted.
It's the rise and rise of the Tory Right, a coalition that will rule for a generation.
Cancel tomorrow, the result is already decided :D ;)

More exit poll results, with 51 Sharetrader votes in, shows National with 76% of the vote. Labour have clawed back with a negative impact on the Greens - Seat allocations will now look like. National now saying they are happy to work with minor parties still sees a role for Labour in the new Government.

A sad show from Labour- NZ is now unshackled from the Helun Clake and Arrogant bastard Mikhael Cullen. (M.C did famously say at a previous Labour win- "we won, you lost- Eat that!)
Will the fat rat Mike Williams (head Labour Party rubbish bin/moldy file digger) be spit roasted at the next Labour meeting??
Big Congratulations to the New National Prime Minister John Key!
A great Accepting Speech from the Honest, TRUSTWORTHY JK!
We can expect to see NZers comming back to roost in a more prosperious New Zealand in the future!

Finally the looney left have been silenced!
I pretty much predicted "exactly" what happened, & so there can be no more Labour spin/bias re polls etc (Dont believe me go check my posts!)
The country wanted change & voted it in...
I said NZ First was a dead duck along time ago, again i was right
I said ACT would be back in stronger numbers, again on the money...
I said John Key would want the Maori party involved...
I suggested Helen Clark wouldn't survive a loss at the polls...
See the pattern forming? (Despite the knockers)
Instead of the constant rantings from the "deluded" looney left.
I hope some of them can "man up" & acknowledge i was right!
Biggest Winners:
John Key & ACT
Biggest Losers:
Winston Peters & NZ First
Unluckiest MP:
Stephen Franks (National, Wellington Central), #60 on list, Nats get 59 :(
Most Talented MP Gone:
Ron Marks
Biggest Loss to Parliament:
Helen Clark, her speech was marvellous & what you would expect from someone in her position, i hope she gets the same opportunites as Jim Boldger got.

If that Young fella holds on to New Plymouth he also pushes out the 59th one of the list .... so Conway Power is even unluckier than Fransks seeing somebody below him unexpectedly win a seat
See ACT didn't need to go down to 59 on their list
It's a pity that National were not entitled to more than 65 seats. Their list only had that number. They then could have put Ron Mark in at 66.
It's a shame to lose the likes of him and keep the trash that the Greens contribute.

Well, there’s a lesson. We won’t be able to rely on Sharetraders polling to pick an Election result.
Here’s how we fared:
National Actual 45.45 compared with 73.29
ACT Actual 3.72 compared with 17.81
Greens Actual 6.43 compared with 2.28
Labour Actual 33.77 compared with 3.65
Maori Actual 2.24 compared with 0
NZ First Actual 4.21 compared with 0.91
Progressive Actual 0.93 compared with 0
United Actual 0.89 compared with 2.05
Other Actual 2.34 compared with 0
Out of 438 Sharetrader votes not one person rated the Maori Party. I think we can put to bed any accusations of racism on these boards – we all share the same views there.
Interestingly 6.55% of the electorate vote was wasted. 78.69% of the electorate is expected to have turned out – compared with 80.9% last time round.
Peter Dunne may be a bit concerned next time round. Gordon Copelands Kiwi Party scored 0.56% and the Bill and Ben party were licking at his heals with 0.51

I was annoyed to find some 2000 odd votes for Ohariu's Gareth Hughes (Green). If those votes had gone to Charles Chauvel (Labour), they would have wiped out Peter Dunne. Are all the Ohariu Green supporters, apart from myself, stupid?
Still, I see Katrina Shanks (National) also increased her vote by a few thousand, so perhaps Ohariu's National supporters are stupid as well.

That was an odd one. Dunne won by 1170. National voters could have got their local person in and, yes the Greens could have seen off Dunne and tried to get the Labour person in. I think the message there is that the electorate like him as a local MP – but he really doesn’t have a mandate to be part of a government. They couldn’t even muster enough enthusiasm to give him a list person to share some banter around parliament. Looks like he’s a Noddy No-Mates.
National supporters remember the lip-service he gave to Brash in 2004 about supporting a national government, then turning around and voting Labour.
But yes I noticed that a few electoral seats could have gone differently if voters had been smarter. Dunne's seat was one of them, Stephen Franks was another.

No, one should be enough. Crikey they only have 5 MPs - that would be 40% of their caucus!
The deal should be similar to what the Greens had - minor portfolios outside cabinet plus spokespersonship on particular issues e.g. Sue Bradford on Buy NZ Made (what'll happen to that now...?)

Hopefully it will be abandoned. Consumers should buy the brand/model
they want and gives best value for money. If they cant compete with overseas products then they must lift their game or make something else. Like tarrif protection, these campaigns do nothing to lift standards. Any 'buy locally' campaign is a fair enough advertising slant if adopted by the manufacturers - but I don't want my money spent telling me what to buy.

I would imagine if the Maori Party with 5 seats gets both Turia & Sharples cushy roles outside cabinet, then Heather Roy deserves something as well. (Roy has an extensive Health background for example)
ACT & the Maori Party both got 5 seats, Peter Dunne got the same deal with just 1 seat.
Given National only needs ACT & they can be trusted to support them, i don't believe 2 seats is unreasonable...
Remember the Maori Party haven't agreed to anything yet, although the talks with National are meant to have been very constructive.
As much as the left leaning voters don't like it, National & ACT are natural bedfellows

The Maori party MP's can claim to have been actually elected (as can Peter Dunne). Even the Green party can claim an entitlement to list seats on the basis of having received 5% of the vote. Neither claim can be made by ACT's four hangers on .

The Maori's have the system stacked in there favour for those seats...

So you can say that, in any given seat in NZ, the voters will overwhelmingly (no contest) pick other candidates over a Green candidate so that Green will never actually win a constituency seat in NZ.
Not Coromandel. not West Coast, not Wellington Central (pretty poor showing by Kedgley), not Waitakere. In fact not even the trendies in Ponsonby restored villas will vote for them....
Even NZ First was able to once win a seat.....but never the Greens.....
