View Full Version : Share/Option Trading Club - any interest?

Hi Guys

I am wondering if there would be any interest in a share and/or options trading club on the ASX or NZX? We could start a group and all put together multiples of $1000 and then see how we go? Rules etc. would need to be made, but what do you chaps think?

I would like to do ASX options, but my capital limits me and I thought it may be a great way for all to learn and for those with not enough capital to gang up and trade.

Regards

Hi Younga,

Good idea in theory - but in reality....probably wont work. Everyone has different styles, goals, methods, timeframes etc....so agreeing on anything other than grabbing a coffee would almost be impossible!:D

Regards for the input....
First, I live in Akld, so that probably is a plus .... Secondly, we could do a possible headcount for those interested on this website ..... and what one could expect from it..... anyway, all is in the air and all is open :-)

Not sure how any one would think that living in Auckland would be "plus".

Stockman, you may have underestimated how hard it may be to agree on the coffee, and then there is the milk, wholemilk-standard-low fat, not to mention the biscuits. F this is getting too hard.

:D Nice one Cantab.[^]

I was refering to the number of people living in Akld being `many' - not with regards to their other qualities .... ;)

I dont want to put a dampener on this but i think one , or a few people , would end up with almost all of the work (probably you)
With these types of arrangements untangling them usually proves to be problematical , as all potential investors will have differing time frames and investment approaches
I have put some time into thinking about such matters , but personally i would not like to be responsible for possible bad decisions which could affect others , nor would i like to be affected by someone elses mistakes -- I stopped using brokers for this reason (and for their fees )which in my case did not provide me with value for money on either count
Maybe i am a loner ??????????? but i find low cost online trading suits me the best , i do my own research and i have no one else to blame for my mistakes (i make a few, but not as many as i did when i started)
If you can get interest from others go for it , but be sure to have as many eventualities as possible agreed upon before taking the plunge
Best of luck

I'm in Auckland. I'm not up for pooling my money (sorry!) but I am up for a drink and a yak about shares.

Hi peeps,
There have been a few heated discussions on a couple of sharechat sites, and it would appear that a few buttons get pushed from time to time, can anyone testify to destroying their computer screen in a fit of rage?
The most physical consequence of such an occurance I have read about is tracker spilling beer on the keyboard.
But... discussing shares, and consequently money, while drinking beer would appear to be a bit dicey, maybe?

When dealing with such things online, and emotions arise, one can soon come to the realization that the only problem is ones self, at the risk of sounding "spiritual".
Nevertheless I did feel slightly jealous of the "living in auckland comment", as I do not live in auckland and really have no one that I can visit locally and discuss sharetrading. (please don't cry).
I guess what I want to say is that, to me, sites like this are a bonus, in more ways than one.
Thanks all.

LG, You need to experience Auckland in late summer! It is mint.
Hang out in Albert park or mission bay for a while and you'll see what Im talking about.

I'm not up for a share club, but would be interested in meetin gup for drinks or whatever to discuss investing in general..
