"Bid" is the price people are currently willing to pay up to (what people are bidding, or offering to pay for some shares - I bid $x.xx for some shares))
"Offer" is the price people are currently willing to sell shares for (I offer my shares at $x.xx)
"Last" is the price of the latest trade
The difference between bid & offer is referred to as the "spread" and is often larger for less liquid companies - less liquid companies are those with less shares issued or whose shares are less actively traded (e.g. large portions of shares held long term by directors or interested parties). The extreme is usually when everyone is trying to sell the shares in the company but there are no (or few) interested buyers, or vice versa.
