How does one short shares?

Hi Everyone,

Could someone please expain how one goes about shorting shares on the NZ and Australian exchanges? I use Direct Broking and don't see any way of shorting from this platform.

Some brokers offer short selling, but only in the top tier stocks. Ring around the brokers. The firms that offer CFD usually have short selling.

I use CFD's from CMC Markets.
Its quite easy to setup and fairly flexible.
No admin, low transaction costs
The platform is a bit ugly and computer intensive but they have web and smartphone options
CMC prices show more volatility than the real market meaning you can be a bit vulnerable to price spikes.
