For interest I have added the legendary DIMEX index as a benchmark - 7 equally weighted stocks. I have predated the stocks to 5th jan, which can be considered a slight advantage. This is seperate from the competition and Dimebags own picks.

I think this reveals an interesting distinction between picking stocks based on an overall philosophy compared to trying to pick 5 winners in a year. I find it interesting that Dimebag varied from his usual approach when picking his 5 stocks for the year due to the timeframe.

Trying to pick 5 winners in a year based on no underlying philosophy seems to me to be nothing more than a random exercise. One only has to look at the random 5 to verify this. The results also fit near perfectly into a normal distribution - unfortunately centred negative and not too far from the random picks.

In saying the above, I expect the next few months, the reporting season, to have a significant effect on the results.

Another comment about who actually owns any of thier picks? I own 3 of mine, MXI,MPI,RAC and recently sold SMO.
