Molopo Enters Large U.S. Gas Project
KEY POINTS:
• Molopo is partnering a US energy producer in an oil and gas project, with multiple targets in a petroleum producing region of Mason County, West Virginia, USA.
• First appraisal well expected to be drilled in the September quarter.
• Nearby infrastructure has enabled gas sales agreements to be negotiated
• Opportunity generated by Molopo's deals flow and technical expertise
• Continued emphasis on Australian gas projects
Coal bed methane ("CBM") gas producer, Molopo Australia Limited, is to move into the energy market in the United States following the completion of a series of agreements covering a large gas project in West Virginia.
The project contains multiple oil and gas targets in sandstones, shales and coals. Gas in the leases is currently being produced from the Ohio Shale zone.
The move - announced today by Melbourne-based Molopo (ASX code: "MPO") - is the Company's first in the US and adds to its producing and exploration interests in CBM projects in Queensland's Bowen Basin and the Gloucester Basin north of Newcastle in New South Wales.
Central to the US expansion is Molopo's success in generating more gas from coal seams by horizontal drilling as opposed to more conventional CBM fraccing methods.
Under an agreement with Dallas, Texas-based Foree International, Molopo will have a 50% interest in a producing petroleum lease in Mason County, West Virginia, with this lease having more than 8,000 acres. Foree has farmed into this lease through an agreement with Base Petroleum, the current holder of the lease. Base Petroleum has 37 wells producing oil and gas in the joint venture's leased area.
The Mason County region is a relatively mature oil and gas province in which hundreds of oil and gas wells have been drilled."While production from these existing wells and their surrounds is excluded from the farm-in, they clearly demonstrate the prospectivity of the area," Molopo's Managing Director, Mr. Stephen Mitchell said.
This arrangement leaves open to Molopo and Foree significant targets in the fractured Ohio Shale, and allows appraisal and development by Molopo-Foree of all the oil and gas potential of the Berea, Oriskany and Newburg Sandstones, and the coal bed methane prospectivity of the Freeport coal seams. In addition, the joint venture expects to add additional acreage in the vicinity.
"Although most current production in the leased area is gas from the Ohio Shale, all of the prospective formations produce hydrocarbons in West Virginia and surrounding states," Mr. Mitchell said.
"As wells in the region are typically low pressure with modest production rates, we are particularly interested in whether the horizontal drilling techniques employed in Australia will substantially increase gas delivery in the three main objectives, namely the shallow sands, shales and particularly coals."
The joint venture's first appraisal well is likely to be drilled in the September quarter.
"A substantial gas gathering and pipeline system currently serves the Mason County area, enabling any production wells from new discoveries to be quickly tied-in," Mr. Mitchell, said today.
"Gas in the region typically trades at a premium to average gas prices in the United States, which in turn are 3-4 times higher than prices received for gas in Australia," Mr Mitchell said.
"With our technological expertise and low entry cost into this JV, the United States expansion adds significant
upside for Molopo."
"Gas sales arrangements have been made with a local company, Base Petroleum Inc., which owns and operates existing gas infrastructure in the region, to take any initial production from the Molopo-Foree joint venture."
Mr Mitchell said the Mason County project fitted within Molopo's longer-term strategy of building a quality portfolio of
oil and gas assets where exploration risk was reduced by previous work or existing nearby production.
"While the development of our Australian projects
ive not that they are in a current SPP at 3 cents, finishing on 20th june?!
directors seem to be taking theres, im wondering whats who holds and how much in this company?
tightly held or lo0se?
Dazza:
3 cents has been the support for the last 4 years and with current outlook (drill in USA in Septrember) I bought at 3cents.

molopo ready for a bounce
the share price did bounce from support line...
the options represent fantastic leverage for the punters..
the depth is very thin both ways
5 gas projects nearly in production
got to be rerated by the market..
they say..
more gas than sydney gas...
compare with QGC, molopo is bigger and trading at 3 not 40
in all molopo could be bigger than BenHur
Big move today...
Is this the bounce?
Maybe the re-rating is underway...
Bring on Ben Hur
mpo-update: bullish divergence between 'On Balance Volume' and 'Price' warns of 'Market Bottoms'
Nice debth-building at the moment...

<center>Who can resist 'bottoms'??</center>
<center>http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-12/905046/mpo7.gif</center>
Actually, the reason why I am Bullish on MPO/MPOOA:
The March '05 presentation quotes 74.3 2P-Reserves for Molopo's Queensland assets (Mungi/Harcourt).
Based on a present Net Value of A$0.28/GJ of Sales Gas, the value/share (344m shares on issue) = A$0.060
Diluted 122m options converted (466m shares on issue) = A$0.044
Note: This represents the value ONLY of the Queensland assets.
<center>Make up your mind - Cheapies will not be around much longer</center>
the value is there...
but why they seems to sell into news...
i do not thinks it is an accumulation process...
i feel they will do a capital reconstruction, to wipe out the options holders
1 for 10
so the oppies will be exercise at 1 dollar
think about it...
shares have value, but a big gap for oppies to be in the money
just a bit of correction,
just reading the presentation...
they got only 10 wells producing 2 PJ
to reach 74 PJ they need about 100 wells..
it took molopo 5 years to set the 10 wells,,
maybe in 20 years time they will be in full production
so multiple nicks are acceptable on ST
I assumed differently???
will ask mods directly I think

thescreeners:
74.3PJ are 2P-Reserves for Mundi/Harcourt. Actually all they need now is sales. The absence of Sales has been a notorious weakness with Molopo for donkey's years.
Personally I am glad that they sold the China assets to be able to concentrate more on the development of their Australian ones.
Well, first Sales MOU in place with Ergon with view to start in 2006.
Also, Molopo considers the exploration projects in the USA as low-risk and with very good prices as well as excellent infrastructure, it could generate much needed cash-flow for the company.
There is always a point in time when things are changing.
Kind Regards
What's happening???
Announcement pending???
Interesting and most likely the most important step for the MOU with Ergon Energy to succeed:
(all Gas produced from Mungi presently contracted to Origin - sales of gas secure...)
On 8 July 2005, the Council released a draft recommendation on the application for coverage. The draft recommendation is that the Dawson Valley Pipeline does not meet all the criteria for coverage under the Code and should not be covered. The Council is seeking further submissions from interested parties by no later than 5pm on Friday 22 July 2005 .
The Council will then make a final recommendation to the relevant decision-maker (in this case the Australian Government Minister for Industry, Tourism and Resources) on whether the criteria are met and whether the pipeline should be declared.

Excerpts: Gas Sales
After establishing reserves of gas in the abovementioned permit areas, Molopo began discussions with several gas users and retailers in an attempt to develop stable, long-term contracts for sale of gas.
Some of the potential end-users expressed negative sentiment when informed that the DVP was owned by Origin and that it was not covered.
These concerns were hard to overcome for Molopo. As a small, emerging gas producer Molopo has negligible negotiating power relative to Origin. Origin is correctly seen as Molopo’s competitor for sales of gas in Gladstone. Origin is also seen as a competitor to the major, incumbent gas retailers to whom Molopo was trying to sell gas. Thus, with Origin owning an uncovered pipeline upon which deliveries of gas by Molopo are dependent, Molopo’s attractiveness as a prospective supplier of gas has been compromised.
On 13 March 2004 Molopo commenced gas sales of Mungi gas to Origin.
Alternative buyers could not be secured and Molopo had no choice but to sell the gas to its competitor. Molopo’s negotiating position with Origin was pathetically weak in terms of both gas transportation costs and gas price.
Whilst the commencement of gas sales was an important milestone, it is just the beginning in terms of the envisaged potential of the field.
On 10 May 2004 Molopo announced the establishment of a Memorandum of
Understanding with Ergon Energy for the sale of up to 3.5 PJ/a of gas over a 15 year period, commencing as early as 2006. Detailed sales arrangements and gas reserves certification have yet to be completed. It is hoped that fair access arrangements will be established for the DVP in accordance with the National Access Code so that the MOU with Ergon can become a binding gas sales agreement.
well interesting input>>>
after reading seems that molopo has a very slow process...
in time they will be ok,, but the time is runing out for options holder,,,
seems that nobody has been buying from previous pump...
but again some good news could push the shaREs over 20 cents , very quickly
thanks for your comments

hello...
seems to be a bit of placement play with ABN AMRO..
apparently thet were selling the stock at 6 cents, on the knowledge to have the placement at around 4 cents,,,
that almost an insider play....
just common pratice i guess.... just have to be a sophisticated investor to have access
Good article in this morning's Australian.

Molopo should bounce from tripple bottom

screeners:
...developments in the CSG-Industry take time but are considered to be low risk and I think in the long term, some sort of industry wide consolidation needs to happen...too many small players digging holes here and there...
...based on the 2P-reserves of mpo and the up-coming supply contract with Ergon, it's a share I have started to accumulate for the long-term now, although I did trade the share before

Pure Energy Report: Special Alert
I just want to put my grumbling final touches on this special alert, because I wanted to let molopo insiders and investors to be in the know how
It's that urgent.
The short story is that the company molopo will be an absolute blockbuster for us.
It's got all of the ingredients for a winning play….top notch management, plenty of cash, and four of the best undeveloped gas plays I've ever seen.
In fact, ever since I first heard about this opportunity I've classified it as a near zero-risk gas play, but with the massive upside of a pure exploration play.
and so far the last 5 years have been only pump and dump on the back of sophisticated investors placements..
molopo is not a brand new company, so management should have performed far better than their expectations,,
what is the trigger of the play
Everyone I've talked to about this company has basically said the same thing: it's about as low risk gas play as you'll ever find.
why is the market selling into promised june news updates and placement at 4 cents
definetley some one playing the ruthless game and assure you they are not the humble shareholders
Molopo is just so undervalued.....
But first, consider this…
molopo got almost free infrastructure on every projects
The company has secured an entire basin in northern Queensland…a basin that has been proven to hold vast amounts of natural gas. In fact, there are wells producing gas
the china resources have been proven and abandonned when molopo shares were 15 cents
Yet the management of this small company just locked up china. and moved on to others,,, 1 - 2 -3 - 4 You see,now these guys are about to unlock the gas they already know is there.
And, considering Australia energy picture, I don't anticipate any problems whatsoever.
So all of the ingredients we look for in a winning company are there: Top-notch management, plenty of cash, excellent market conditions and very low risk.
so why are the shares so low ??? sophisticated investors behind...
brokers have prepared a full research report and yet big selling into???
Common molopo , some one is playing the card
Oh, and one more thing...
6 millions options for sell at 0.005
molopo is expecting to be a producing some updates by the end of June. The way I see it, once we get to that stage, the word will be out.
So please, take a look and decide

...it's all the fault of the "Spread-Trading" community... (thanks davidrob who highlighted this trading phenomenon)
Unless there is good news on increased gas sales in Australia or new sales starting to happen in the USA, the share price will not move out of it's latest trading range between 3.3 and 4.1; maybe it will even trade lower.
Fundamentally, MPO looks sound (assets and sales: tick; good JV-partners: tick; quality reserves: tick; increasing market demand for gas: tick;) and it's only a matter of time till the share price will move up...tick
Options: have a chance in the short-term if MPO will be successful in the USA and demonstrates sales; but personally I DO NOT TOUCH THEM, since the risk of the increased leverage they provide and the time risk... way TOO HIGH for my liking...I'll stick with the shares and do not mind if they will trade lower

9 cents when molopo progress with the mungi project...
6 cents with addition of gloucester,,, which got proven gas resources...
4 cents with the addition of USA projects
3 cents with the rebirth of china with hughe potential..
now tell me what is wrong...
the company seems to be doing all the right things,,, but some one is constantly selling into it...
even sophisticated investors are not look after...

MPO looking like excellent value at current prices. With Santos t/o of QGC, new interest has been generated in the CSM gas sector. MPO is the most undervalued on the ASX based on 2P reserves.
Historically has traded as much as 20+c [8D]
Definite appreciation is imminent in my humble opinion, if not its a ripe target for t/o :)
<center>Molopo...for 7cents and a bit...</center>
...another advantage Molopo offers in terms of future potential compared to current value is it's already large spread of interests around the globe -something other CBM producers are only now trying to establish-

Fundamentally sound stock and technically really good now.
PS: Robbo have u noticed this yet?! It is starting to become an investment grade stock ......

Like this company think they are undervalued, anyone holding them?
Whats Happened To Mpo Anybody No
Based on the numbers
being $4.91 p GJ
values MPO at $942m for their 192 2p reserves
v m/cap of $250m
I'd expect the whole CSG sector to re-rate by perhaps 50% in the next month as the reality of this deal sinks in.....
2nd offshore player to take a tilt at this sector in the last month.
MPO well positioned to run
SHG and MPO are the two picks for CSG
both way undervalued relative to peers
takeout now HIGHLY likely for either or both
Footsie agree with your take on SHG. Don't know as much about MPO but I do know Wilson HTM slapped a $1.80 plus price target on MPO a few months back when it was trading not far over 50c. I should have taken their advice!
From another site thought you guys might find this ineteresting. This company ticked all the boxes for me early last year.
From Credit Suisse as at 22 May
market cap divided by GJ
QGC 3.88
AOE 2.95
ESG 2.82
SGL 4.37
SHG 1.55
MPO 1.20
Molopo significatly undervalued on current reserves with reserve upgrades due any minute and many projects in infancy. It isn't rocket science. MPO has plenty of moving (up) to do. If it doubles, it is still only sitting at the lower end of this equation.
