Default Dividends - does it depend how long you held the shares for?

I got some AirNZ shares just 3 or so months ago. Does it depend how long you held them for? Let's say you buy shares 1 month and then they have a dividend annoucement. What happens?

There is a record date for dividend payments. It is in the market announcement which includes div information. If you are holding the shares on that date you will get the dividend. Check out the below site which has the upcoming dates for books closing, payment, ex dividend.

It doesn't matter how long, or how short a time you've held shares, all shareholders are treated equally and all get the same dividend payment per share held on the record date (good choice on choosing Air shares !)
