2016 yearly stock picking competition
it is that time of year to start picking.
same rules as last year.
1 - no stocks under 1c will be accepted.
2 - Dividends will be added to return.
3 - 5 stock picks only.
4 - no options etc.
5 - each stock pick will have a weighting of $10,000 (20% of portfolio)... ($50,000 in total for portfolio)...
so performance can be posted in percentage returns, and/or $ returns.
6 - entries close at midnight sunday 17th January 2015…
7 - entry price is the first-traded price from the day following you posting your selections for late comers or the first traded price on the first trading day of the year.
8 - if one of your picks hasn’t listed or is in suspension at the start of year we will just take the first traded price on the day that it lists or comes out of suspension.
9 - takeovers will result in a new pick to the contestant, at the adjusted rate.
if you have any ideas to improve the rules please say.
we can debate and agree or disagree.
this needs to be made sticky for 2016.
the best end date is, of course December 31 but the jan 17 gives the latecomers a chance.

include an option to transfer to cash then buy back again but for a fixed sum , say $30 per transaction. that is in october i may want to convert to cash and stay ther for the rest of the year [for some reason]. or i may want to sit out may, june and part of july, [for some reason] but i MUST return to the same share.

also late entry fee [say $30 as for the transaction to cash previously mentioned]. hence if nominally start with $10,000 then after the start begin with $10,000 - $30 worth of shares. ha, ha, ha, the nasty old clipping of the ticket - may get one share less(or something)
this is just a suggestion

if a share end should there be be an option to pick another of a much greater or much lesser value? this happened this year. if a high value share ends then 100 lower value share may be bought to the same money. though this means 100 times the profit OR 100 times the loss.
discuss.

Many thanks for organising.
Here are my picks.
No advice here. Just banter. DYOR

Cheers;
MBE - eps growth will be significant. Buy!
CGS - will become cash flow +ve and turn a tidy profit, unknown to the market (and best bit very little chatter on hot copper about it)
CNW - spicy specy but the "new age" in IT companies
SGH - after many nasty surprises, hopefully all will come right, or it will turn out management may be a bunch of dirt bags and it will head for the graveyard, I'm sitting on a decent loss on this one, and I really am ignoring and taking the "she'l be right attitude"
EML - not sure how this will go but I have a small holding and acording to the grape vine a large majority of their increased revenues should drop to the bottom line.....

Do you think this year we could also run a SHORT competition in a separate thread. Could be interesting?
