    The next Branch Meeting on Wednesday, 10th April 2019, which will take place from 7.30pm at the Alexandra Park Convention Centre (tea and coffee served from 7pm, and please note there will be the usual $5 cover charge).We are using the "Top of the Park" room on the 5th floor.


    Xavier Simonet, CEO Kathmandu
    Bio: Joined Kathmandu in June 2015 with over 20 years international experience in building brands and developing successful retail businesses in fashion, apparel, accessories and related products.
    Prior roles include CEO of Radley (London), VP & GM International of DB Apparel, 11 years at LVMH (primarily Asia-Pacific) and International Director of Seafolly.

    Mark Lister, Head of Private Wealth Research, Craigs IP
    Topic: International shares and the Tax Working Group
    Bio: Mark joined Craigs Investment Partners in 2004. Before joining Craigs, he worked in the electricity sector for a number of years. Mark is Head of Private Wealth Research for Craigs Investment Partners Private Wealth division. His team is responsible for all of the asset allocation, strategy and portfolio recommendation decisions for Craigs clients.

    The next Branch Meeting is on Wednesday, 26th June, 2019


    The Branch meeting will take place from 7.30pm at the Alexandra Park Convention Centre (tea and coffee served from 7pm, and please note there will be the usual $5 cover charge). In order to ensure that we're not disturbed by music from other gatherings, we are using the "Top of the Park" room on the 5th floor.


    We will be continuing to selectively video speakers and then posting these to the NZSA website, so that other members may also enjoy our speakers' presentations.


    Order of business:-


    7.30pm Introduction to the new NZSA Chair, Tony Mitchell
    7.35pm approx Branch and Company visit update and request for Proxy holders
    7.40pm approx, Glen Sowry, CEO, Metlifecare
    8.10pm approx, James Spence, Director Investment Management, Goodman Property Trust


    there may also be a presentation from Paul Adams, CEO, Everedge on valuing a company's intangible assets, which is always a contentious issue!

    Glen Sowry : CEO, Metlifecare
    Prior to joining Metlifecare in April 2016, Glen was Chief Executive Officer of Housing New Zealand with 67,000 properties across the country valued at more $22 billion. Before joining Housing New Zealand at the beginning of 2013, Glen held a number of senior roles at Air New Zealand over a 10 year period, initially as Head of Corporate Affairs and Government Relations, then running the domestic and short haul international airlines.


    James Spence: Director Investment Management, Goodman Property Trust
    James is responsible for overseeing the investment decisions of GMT and heading up the property team. He joined the Group in 2006 and held various roles within the New Zealand business before moving to Europe with Goodman in 2011. During his time in Europe, James was responsible for managing Goodman wholesale funds and leading its capital transaction programme.


    Paul Adams: CEO, Everedge
    Everedge specialise in intangible asset and intellectual property strategy, out-sourced intellectual property management, intangible asset monetization, technology commercialization and intellectual property licensing.

    I'm writing to give you an update for the Branch Meeting on Wednesday, 20th November, 2019, which will take place from 7.30pm at the Alexandra Park Convention Centre (tea and coffee served from 7pm, and please note there will be the usual $5 cover charge). In order to ensure that we're not disturbed by music from other gatherings, we are using the "Top of the Park" room on the 5th floor.

    We will be continuing to selectively video speakers and then posting these to the NZSA website, so that other members may also enjoy our speakers' presentations.

    As this is the last Branch meeting for 2019 we invite our members to join the committee for a complimentary drink after the proceedings.

    Tim Brown : Infratil
    Tim Brown specialises in financial structuring and has been responsible for the funding of both Infratil and a number of investee companies. Tim is Chair of Wellington Airport.

    Kimbal Riley : CEO, Vista International Group
    Kimbal was appointed Group CEO in April 2018 after joining Vista as Chief Operating Officer in November 2013. Formerly, he was COO of Orion Health, New Zealand’s largest software exporter with operations on every continent and customers in over 50 countries. Kimbal was with Orion Health for seven years, during which period the company grew from 120 people to over 700 and turnover increased from $20m to in excess of $100m.

    As PwC's Chief Risk Officer, Karen leads the Risk & Quality functions across practice areas, the enterprise risk framework and regulatory relationships. Further as Assurance Quality Partner, Karen draws on her significant assurance and financial reporting experience to lead PwC's L&E, Methodology and Accounting Technical teams.

    Brian Watson : CEO, Blis Technologies (maker of Probiotics)
    Brian was appointed CEO of Blis Technologies in February 2016. He joined Blis following senior management roles with Fonterra and within the Pharmaceutical industry in New Zealand and overseas. Brian’s career has focused on general management, marketing and sales across healthcare, nutraceutical and nutrition industries. Brian has a track record of successfully launching global brands into new markets and leading change within organisations.

    Blair Harrison, ASX
    Blair Harrison, is based in Auckland in late May/early June, and runs the ASX’s New Zealand issuer services. Blair is a lawyer by training, has worked for the ASX since 2013, and currently heads up its derivatives and over-the-counter markets team. Originally from New Zealand, Blair has worked in Australia, Japan and the United Kingdom over his career including a stint as a solicitor with global asset manager JP Morgan in London.

    Brian Ward, Founder and CEO, Aroa Biosurgery
    Brian is the founder and chief executive officer of Aroa. He has extensive management experience in life science companies spanning clinical, technical, sales, marketing, corporate development and strategy having worked for a number of multinationals including Baxter, Beecham and SmithKline Beecham throughout the world. He is a graduate from Massey University with a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science, a Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (UK), and holds a Masters degree in Business Administration graduating with distinction.


    Gary Rohloff, Managing Director, Laybuy Group Holdings Ltd
    Gary is a Co-Founder of Laybuy, and is ordinarily based in the UK to assist in developing Laybuy’s UK team and growing the UK business. Gary has held a number of CEO and CFO roles in the retail industry, including Number One Shoes, Warehouse Stationery and Ezibuy. Prior to his retail experience he worked in treasury roles and in banking.

    Physical Attendance
    The meeting will be taking place at 7.30pm (doors open for refreshments from 7pm) and the venue is the Great Northern room at the Ellerslie Convention Centre. As this is the last meeting of the year, there will be the traditional complimentary drink after the speakers presentations.
