"It has been 2 months since the women at the counter had the gun shoved in her face. Manager Shabana Hakim & her 2 co-workers say they are traumatised & no longer feel safe in St Heliers....
5 doors down from where they were attacked by 2 men one with a gun another with a meat cleaver, - the community Police base HAD been shut.."

2 major Police bases in Ellerslie & Panmure will follow suit, plus another 27 more around the country in order to save money by the National Govt.
Would those jewellery store attacks happened if there was still a Community Police Station in Ellerslie?

This was from 2016 & the National Party who are supposed to be so tough on crime.
So going on past performance does anyone really swallow National's criticism of Labour being soft on crime.

National are prepared to say anything, even ignoring all the research, to win this election.

We know right around the world, where there's a police presence, a Community Station, there's a lower incident of street crime.
It took 20 minutes for the police to arrive at that 2016 St Heliers retail shop attack .

Prevention is a heck of a lot safer for communities than hot air about increasing penalties, which already stand at up to 14 years for aggravated burglary.
And judges already do take into account aggravating factors.

I think you have defeated your own point by the quotation that
a cleaver job happened just 5 doors away from a Police base.

Things have got considerably worse since then, thanks to Labour's softies.

As if to illustrate the point, just last year Cinder's electorate office was put to the sword!

Thanks for pointing that out, hadn't noticed.
A grammatical mistake. Auto spell check changed the community Police base Had been shut, to Has been shut..

i.e. the attack happened after the National govt closed the Community Police Base at St Heliers.

Since closing Community Police bases & stations was a necessary response to National govt cutting the Police budget!

I would love to believe National will prevent crime, but its not going to happen. The country will be worse off.

Can't get much worse than it is now .. or can it ?

Even Gini - the latest Police Ministerial Fill-in has admitted a huge increase in crime earlier this year ..

Free Wiki: Judge says young burglar should not stay in jail - home detention imposed

A young man who stole $15,000 worth of clothing from a store, attacked a person with gardening pruners and smashed a windscreen has been released from jail - and put on home detention instead.

The judge who re-sentenced him says that Free Usher Dani Wiki, who was 21 at the time of his most recent offending, is a young and vulnerable man, having regard to his personal background.

High Court Justice Jonathan Eaton said care needed to be taken to reduce the chance of Wiki coming out of prison a “more hardened criminal” than before.

In May this year, Wiki was sentenced to two years and three months in prison for burglary, assault with a weapon, intentional damage, receiving, driving while disqualified, breaching intensive supervision and community work, and failing to answer bail.

Wiki’s offending occurred in Hawke’s Bay.

Rimutaka prison escapee accused of car theft, burglarly while on the run

A prison escapee allegedly stole a vehicle and burgled a property during his two days on the run from an Upper Hutt Corrections facility.

John Douglas Willis enjoyed a weekend of freedom after escaping from Rimutaka Prison's horticulture nursery, where he worked, on Friday afternoon.

All going fine for Comrade Kelvin's Camping Holidays for naughty boys & girls on time out

Unfortunately Kelvin - simply turning the blind eye to some of these scumbags results in what ?

Kidnap victim was forced to dig her own grave during ‘horrific’ three-week ordeal, Nomads gang member hands himself in to police

A woman was allegedly forced to dig her own grave during a “horrific ordeal” spanning three weeks after she was kidnapped from a house on Auckland’s North Shore.

It is also alleged she was repeatedly beaten and it’s believed she was restrained and locked in a car boot for days.

The revelations come as a patched member of the Nomads gang handed himself in to police overnight in connection with the incident.

Carlos Harris appeared in the Waitakere District Court this afternoon charged with kidnapping.

A Community Magistrate said no plea had been entered and Harris would remain in custody until a bail hearing on July 13.

Yet another from Labour's favoured & massaged few makes the news

Go easy - Mr Beak .. it's Election Year and Labour are trying their best to not to be seen collecting votes
from this sort of talent they support to detriment of others up and down the country
