Yup - but I'm sure you would rather be outraged and send them to boot camp.

That would be too good for them. What they should do is drag their useless parents in and sort them out.

Totally agree. Perhaps charge the parents with neglect ?

Daylight robberies spread to New Plymouth.

No thanks to the 4 police ministers in 1 year under Ardern & Hipkins.

Watch: West Auckland liquor store owners fight off five weapon-wielding youths after attempted robbery

Owners of a West Auckland liquor store took matters into their own hands today when five youths targeted their store allegedly armed with a bat and pocket knife.

A witness, who wished not to be named, caught the brawl on Henderson Valley Rd on video moments after the young offenders were chased out of the store. She said watching the event unfold was “frightening”.

“We were going to our local liquor store to grab some drinks and then all of a sudden we saw a big group of males punching and huddled up, then we realise it was our local liquor store owners that were fighting off five people with help from the community,” the witness said.

Footage shows group attack outside Ferry Building, Quay St, downtown Auckland

City leaders are demanding urgent action against violent crime in Auckland’s downtown after a group was caught on camera kicking, punching and stomping a person in a busy tourist and commuter area.

Heart of the City chief executive and former mayoral candidate Viv Beck also told the Herald it would be “concerning if longstanding requests” for crime prevention measures weren’t reflected in tomorrow’s Budget.

Deaf Ear approach - Viv - you know from this Govt's Beehive ignoramus in Election Year .. as per previously

The Salvation Army’s State of the Nation 2023 report stated the number of victimisations for violent crime nationwide has increased by 33.4 per cent since 2017.

Meanwhile, retail crime, according to police statistics, has increased by 39 per cent in 2022 compared to 2021. There were 292 retail crime incidents every day in 2022, up from 140 per day in 2018.

Police have previously said some of the increase in reports of retail crime can be attributed to better reporting and recording methods.

Central Auckland has also been hit hard by the spike in ram raids during the past two years. Ram raids have increased nationwide by more than 500 per cent since 2018.

Copper dome stolen from Auckland's Stardome, telescope can't be used on Matariki

    James Halpin
    12:44, May 23 2023

‘Auckland’s iconic Stardome Observatory has had its copper dome stolen in a “violating” theft that could cost the lookout $200,000.

The copper is the 56-year-old outer layer of the protective, movable dome which opens up to the heavens – when it isn’t raining.‘

Labour’s pitifully weak response to the ram raid epidemic has sparked a general crime rampage the likes of which this country has never seen before. We’ve not got a ‘Crime Crisis’ to go with the ‘Housing Crisis’ and the ‘Cost Of Living Crisis’.

I am not advocating for this approach, but my feeling is that if there was a "shoot to kill raimraiders" policy, the whole problem would disappear quite quickly.
