Two Rotorua businesses become victims of ram raids in one hour

Stolen vehicles, smashed glass, burgled businesses and a car “engulfed in flames” - these were scenes from Saturday morning after two Rotorua shops were ram-raided in less than an hour.

Police have confirmed stolen vehicles were used to gain entry to both the Challenge petrol station on Malfroy Rd and Springfield Superette and Lotto on Otanga Rd early on Saturday morning.

Not recently relocated "guests" to Roto Ram-raid, from up North - were they ?

Arrest after armed robbery in Auckland’s Stanley Point

One person has been arrested following an armed robbery at a house in Auckland’s Stanley Point which resulted in an 80-minute police chase.

Police were notified of the robbery at a residential address on Calliope Road at around 2:40am on Sunday.

The alleged offender left the scene prior to police arrival, a spokesperson said.

“Staff spoke with the two occupants of the address, one of which received minor injuries during the incident but did not require medical attention.

Then at 7am, the alleged offender returned to the address and stole a car.

Police identified the stolen car and signalled for the driver to pull over, however the driver did not stop and continued on the Northern Motorway.

Two young thieves use weapons to steal lollies and attempt to take car in Levin

Two youths have been caught by Levin police today after they robbed a dairy armed with tools this morning.

Area Commander Manawatu Inspector Ross Grantham said the pair went into the dairy on Winchester St around 7.15am and threatened the worker with their weapons demanding cash. The worker locked themselves in the back room and called the police.

The youths stole lollies and fled on foot to the nearby New World car park, where they unsuccessfully tried to steal a car, Grantham said.

They broke into another car close by, stealing a wallet that contained cash and cards.

Gang members ram police car in Palmerston North, flee to hospital

Two young patched gang members have been arrested after trying to ram a police car with a stolen vehicle before fleeing last night.

The two men, aged 21 and 19, were seen driving the stolen car on Maxwells Line in Palmerston North just before midnight, Central District Command Centre Senior Sergeant Matt Prendergast said.

“A police dog unit indicated for the vehicle to stop, and the offenders attempted to ram the vehicle,” he said.

“The two occupants of the offending vehicle then began to throw metallic car parts out of the vehicle at police following them.”

Posted this in the "Labour Government" thread but probably belongs better here:

More ferals created by this Government's stupid Kaianga Ora policies. These twits have been lighting toxic fires & smoking meth in the backyard to smoke out their neighbours. Environment Waikato has become involved because of it. Repeated complaints to the property manager have gone unanswered. The Police have attended the property 92 times in 5 years and on some occasions have been attacked by these ferals.
Yet they remain there and no doubt paying no rent. What a bloody lawless fiasco.

So the district police commissioner believes the police handled the Ōpōtiki gang gathering very well and kept the community there ‘safe’.

If safe is closing roads for a short time (2.5 hours is short), we now have an idea of why police now take hours to respond to robberies and crime under this useless Labour government.

If safe is the police supporting school closures to allow the gangs to roam freely in the town, then the answer to crime must surely be for businesses to be closed as the police cannot control the gangs and criminals.

What a damning indictment on were the 4 ministers of police in 1 year (Chris Hipkins to be the fixer after the hapless Poto Williams, remember? ) has allowed law & order to break down in NZ.

A curse on this pro-crim and pro-gang Labour government.

Weapons and drugs found in vehicles by police monitoring gang tensions in Ōpōtiki

After shots were fired following the tangi of a Mongrel Mob leader, police say they will maintain an increased presence in the eastern Bay of Plenty “for some time”.

On Wednesday, hundreds of gang members from Mongrel Mob chapters descended on Whakatāne for the funeral of Steven Taiatini, who was understood to be the president of the Mongrel Mob Barbarians.
