The NZ50 gross began 2015 at 5568.28; what will it be by the end of the year?

6754 is my guess.

I think BFG is pretty close. I would have said 5850. If it goes above 6300 the I would be selling to avoid a repeat of Oct 1987.

5875 gives a 5.3% return which is in line with most dividends (being a gross index), and considering the stunnning run we've had the past 3 years I'm not very bullish on capital growth as most stocks are looking fully valued now. QE is over in the USA and I expect a rocky road with interest rates POSSIBLY rising in the US (although Eurozone QE has thrown a spanner into that works).

That's my two cents for my number ;)

Bunter, your number gives a 28% return over a years period. Expecting 0% interest rates and NZ money printimg scheme are we? (Dr Norman isn't in power, remember?) :P

Guessing a 21% gain and 5yr bank deposit rates of around 4.8-5% this year, on average.
Assume you were calculating in Canadian dollars (and factoring in some CAD appreciation). Or maybe got the DIL accountants to work it out?
