Emerchants is one of Australia’s leading providers of innovative payment solutions leveraging reloadable and non-reloadable prepaid debit cards. Our proprietary technology, processing capabilities and program management services we offer allow clients more control and flexibility in managing corporate expense programs, funds disbursement, petty cash, per diems, emergency payments, disaster/welfare programs and many other individual and bulk payment scenarios. We partner with well-established banking institutions and card associations (eftpos, Visa) to ensure card programs are fully compliant, scalable and easy to implement for clients.
Our mission is to transform the commercial payment solutions landscape by inspiring companies to demand more control, more transparency and more flexibility over their money.

High growth company with a very bright looking future in securing new and BIG contracts in the prepaid payment solutions world. They tent to be paired with bookies and salary bundling outfits. I'm surprised there isn't a thread for them here already!

Have attached a research piece I've found which explain it a lot better than I can.

Anyone here holding?

I'm going to PIE investor day today so might pipe up with a question re EML. They're certainly growing but their margins will be decreasing with the downward pressure on rates.
I only skimmed the report but do they have a securitisation program or does all of their funding need to be liquid?

That's a good question, I'm not sure. The products they sell would imply that they either get the money up front (i.e. the gift\debit cards which I guess they'd keep fairly liquid), or the company they're branding for (i.e. Cash Converters) is responsible for any debt. So that would say to me that they wouldn't really need such a program. I'd be interested to know what the answer actually is though.

Now that's a nice announcement, and the share price responds accordingly:

Just starting looking at this yesterday...funny how often stocks shoot up while I'm taking a few days or so to think about investing. Have any of you made back of the envelope revised earnings estimates for the next couple of years?

No, since they haven't given any indication of what the deal is actually worth it would just be guesswork at this stage, but I'd be expecting them to be at the top end of guidance if it's of any real size. They surely would have known it was coming and taken it into account in the investor presentations they've been doing the last few weeks.

Very scalable business while underlying costs stay relatively low - that's the story you are buying with EML. Margins will drop with these big deals but more of a small margin means overall deal could be very profitable for EML. I have a small holding as still risky but I definitely see the potential.

Good announcement yesterday, up to $1.90/share, there appears to be very good traction and I can see EML getting more and more traction while the wider market becoming aware of the company. I see SP moving well above $2 mark in the next 6 months

Or possibly above $2 in the next 6 hours. Already poked it's head above that particular parapet once today.

US mall deal is EML’s rewardDamon Kitney (https://www.theaustralian.com.au/author/Damon+Kitney)4:32PM November 28, 2019
The high-flying fintech EML, a payments solutions provider, is set to have more than 1000 shopping mall gift card programs around the world after signing a deal with the largest mall operator in America to offer its products in 200 of its properties.

The deal with Simon Property Group will see EML offer single load private label gift cards restricted for use within Simon’s US shopping malls, as well as Visa and MasterCard reward cards.
“We are eager to work with a leading-edge property group to provide innovative products to grow their successful program,’’ said Jamison Jaworski, CEO of EML Americas.
Earlier this month, EML embarked on a company transforming acquisition to move the gift and prepaid card provider into the digital banking space for the first time with the $423m purchase of London-headquartered Prepaid Financial Services.

Brisbane-based EML Payments has been on an aggressive acquisition path and the purchase of the European provider of white label payments and banking-as-a-service technology was by far the biggest in EML’s history.
It has been loosely grouped alongside the high-profile so-called WAAAX stocks (Wisetech, Afterpay, Altium, Appen and Xero), which has lifted its sharemarket rating but bemused chief executive Tim Cregan.
“I don’t spend any time obsessing about the share price. We make money and generate cash, that is more than what can be said for some others in the space.”
