A good arcticle in Market analyses(subscription). There is only one Aus Discount Broker now for new NZ clients; One State Stockbroking www.amscot.co..au (http://www.amscot.co..au/), are actively seeking NZ clients. Sounds great; anyone had experience with them;whats the services ; charting etc like?

Stuffed if i know bm.Market analysis have always been reliable and accurate and have done a full page article re Amscott; they sound great fees and service wise and it was suggested it could be easier opening up an Aus bank acc via them.. Re the disconnect. not a good look!.Have just emailed Amscott now ; will let folks know if they answer! cheers JT

Amscott replied saying no they don't take NZ clients anymore. They are contacting M/A to correct them . So it seems noone can open NEW broking accounts in Aus.:eek2:

What a pity.

I think we pay far too much in NZ for online share purchases.

Is http://www.halifaxonline.co.nz/ worth looking at?
$18.95 is their headline rate

DISC: no association and have no idea what they are like

I have tried to become a Client with all Australian Online Brokers. I even opened up a Commonwealth Bank A/C & used my sons Sydney address, hoping that would get around there red tape. Unfortunately as soon as I forward my NZ passport, they then ask for my Medicare Card for further identification.
I am not recommending these guys but have you checked out Halifax.co.nz. There fees for online trading start @ $18.95 & they offer a range of markets & services...

NZ'ers can use Interactive Brokers, for which fees are $7.

They are a bit of a pain in the proverbial though, because you have to wire transfer funds in and out, and if you don't do a certain amount of trades there's a $30 per month fee
