$4.65. A correction on overseas markets tonight will cause ordinary traders to 'get out at the bottom' :-)

The whole thing is arse about - the owner of the controlling stake gets out without any premium for the control aspect, I suppose because nobody was willing to step up and take the 53% as it would trigger a requirement for full T/O

On the other hand, that controlling stake is now spread far and wide, making the register ripe for someone to launch a play in the fullness of time (if anyone wanted to, of course) but my point is, usually an open register will carry an 'excitement' premium for it's T/O potential, so it should now carry a bit of that premium in it's go-forward spot price.

You are right to suggest a price lower than last traded, as there will be plenty of instant gratification trades available, so I will say $4.77, but short-lived and after a few days/weeks will get back above $5

Gosh, who'd have thought this potential gentailer quick buck play would come so hard on the heels of the Tiwai announcement! My guess 4.85 open, closing 4.73.

looks like their advisors/underwriters screwed them out of $40m+ at least. They could have got them away easily at $4.90 which would have been an extra $100m and would have made their underwriters actually break a sweat for the huge fee they would have earned.

received an allocation of 1000 shares from my broker, hardly worth the effort, how do you get bigger allocations in these situations?

Surely with a highly sought after issue at an attractive price with a tight time frame, it is a question of which broker you deal with, how much you are worth and how much business you have put his way.

I often wonder how much of these sorts of allocations the brokers take themselves. Or if that's frowned upon, how much they allocate to their cycling buddies etc

Shame on you NBT - the NZ and especially Oz market doesn't work like that - what were you thinking! :)

Thanks. 1 1/2 chocolate fish up for the days efforts. A good result! I'll save the leftovers for when I need a treat.

All those are true as to if you are invited to take part.
Then you are asked how many shares you want-with a margin lending account it is easy as you just max out your limit. You know its highly likely the broker will get scaled back so ask for the maximum you can afford..
I was scaled back to 9% but still very happy as the dividends from the shares will be more than the interest I pay on the margin lend-plus a likely capital gain.

Can be frustrating never knowing what you are going to get(i got re 17%) which is prob just as well because i didn't want to sell anything atp to pay for them. Thanks fish, will check out margin lending acc.
