Hi all,

I'm interested in learning more about technical analysis. Do you have any good book recommendations? Particularly those aimed at absolute beginners.

Thanks!

Regina Meani's book " Charting - An Australian Investor's Guide" is one to start with. Third edition published 1999 so I'm not sure if it's still in print.

Looks like neither of those are available at the local libraries, but my uni has another of John Murphy's books available so I'll check that out. Thanks.

One that's helped me over the last couple of years is - Secrets For Profiting In Bull and Bear Markets, by Stan Weinstein.

I found it to be a lot lighter and easier to follow than John Murphy's "Technical analysis..." book, and gives good descriptions and examples for both Traders and Investors.

Other note worthy authors include Mark Minervini, William O'Neil and Alexander Elder who all have books worth reading. (As peat 'above' mentioned "invest in yourself")

Meani's book is available from Fishpond. Quite a slim volume, paperback, moderately priced. No, I'm not her publisher or agent!

Bulkowski is a renowned chart man. One of Hoop's favourites as well I think

He says this is his entry level book

invest in yourself and buy the bloody thing.

If I bought every book someone suggested to me, I wouldn't have anything left to invest. I'm a full time student - looking to learn, not actively trade at this stage. Better to check out the recommendations that are available at the library and then decide to buy if I want to go more in depth.

Thanks all for the recommendations. Much appreciated.

The Bible was/is John Magee's "Technical Analysis of Stock Trends".
Google it as there are PDFs you can download for free.
Christchurch library did have it.I found reading the 2nd half of the book first, made it an easier read.
