this is obviously a newbie reaction but when you see the share price drop in a hurry and think oh crap but then realise theyve just paid out divs. btw, is that the rule for a share price to do that?

and is the final amount paid out per share 17c + supp (supplementary?) value of 3c? https://www.nzx.com/markets/NZSX/securities/TPW/dividends

If you are NZ tax resident the total pre-tax amount of your dividend is the amount + the imputation, the amount paid is less tax, and the tax due on the amount depends but is often different again.

If you are non NZ tax resident then it is generally the the amount + the supplement.

The fluctuating weight of buyer/seller demand obviously sets the shareprice but yes, in the absence of other news the sp will often drop by around the amount of the dividend in early ex-div trading.

Can not find the TPW thread. Is anyone here having trouble placing orders with TPW. Have amended order 3 times in half hour and it is still sitting there nothing happen. ASB said they having problems. (See weed)
