TWE is doing well, and there was rally in its price until recently. It has huge vineyards in Australia and California and owns vineyards in NZ. Hey, it never occurred to me that NZ wine brands could be owned by foreign cos.

TWE is doing well, and there was rally in its price until recently. It has huge vineyards in Australia and California and owns vineyards in NZ. Hey, it never occurred to me that NZ wine brands could be owned by foreign cos.

It's my impression that most of the "big" names are owned by foreign companies although I'd imagine that the bulk of wine still comes from the locally owned, given the plethora of wine producers/companies these days. It pays to look closely at the cheaper variants of some of the well known names - a surprisingly large number are discreetly identified as "Wine of Australia" / Chile/ etc, not that that necessarily makes them an inferior drop. A matter of preference.
