Issuing of FIN number

How long does it take for your FIN number to be issued after you make your first stock purchase? I am about to start trading, but am freaking out a little at the thought of having to wait for the FIN number before I can sell.

Thanks - that sounds reasonable. I was worried it could be some sort of bureaucratic thing that would take weeks or months.
