Guess we may need a new Forum for this one?

"New Zealand has a new stock exchange - designed specifically for small and medium-sized businesses that are too small to list on the NZX. The new exchange, called Catalist, has already been working in the private investment sector, and will open a public market from June 21st. It will target listings with an initial value of between $6 million and $60 million - which is considerably lower than what is expected for a traditional stock market listing. CEO of Catalist is Colin Magee."

Can see this actually siphoning off some of the smaller businesses from the NZX.

Take care people. The NZX can be a bit dodgy at times. This one could be the Wild West. The cat part could well stand for catastrophe.

If it’s integrated with all the online trading platforms, unlike ‘unlisted’, otherwise it’ll be another unloved back water exchange that’s inconvenient to access and use.

Agree. It is a huge disappointment how the Unlisted does not integrate with online platforms, Shareshight etc etc and very inconvenient indeed.

I buy shares in companies. If I like the company I buy shares in it.
I currently hold shares listed on the following exchanges.
ASX..Australian Stock Exchange.
LSE.London Stock Exchange.
NZX.NZ stock exchange.
USX.NZ Unlisted stock exchange.
I also have shares in a public company where the shares are exchanged via the company.
I have signed up for Catalist, and look forward to researching any companies that list on this exchange.
As I said at the start, if I want shares in a company I will buy them on what ever exchange they are listed. They all have served me well.

Likewise.... keeping an open mind, I think this could be v good for NZ Inc. Have signed up.

Also FWIW Catalist seems to have the backing of, or is part of NZX, so should be reasonably kosher. Stand to be corrected.

Wonder if these guys have considered taking onboard the listings coming out of the likes of
Snowball Effect & Other Equity Raise sites etc etc - which once funding is complete are basically
left floating in outer space with no formal market to buy/sell on ? ;)

Probably, if only for a little bit of set and forget money, though worth reading about their companies from time to time. Inhibit Coatings says

Our broad-spectrum silver antimicrobial agent kills over 650 different types of microorganisms including Human Coronavirus....

and Chitogel:

Chitogel Limited is a medical device company offering a clinically-proven hydrogel that improves patient outcomes following endoscopic sinus surgeries and other potential applications. We have our headquarters and a EN ISO 13485:2016 certified manufacturing facility in Wellington, New Zealand.

NZ needs to diversify from selling education, tourist fun and even, ultimately, meat products. This sort of stuff looks worth supporting, and hopefully eventually get some gain.

Investing into another investment Fund so they can invest in tech companies? Not my type of an IPO.
