Is alive and well in Northland: https://www.nzherald.co.nz/northern-advocate/news/controversial-ethnicity-based-health-policy-used-in-northland-despite-government-saying-it-wouldnt-be/DKLNGPHZENFENDHQXAWIU5G2TI/

they have historically had unequal access to healthcare

Can anyone explain this? I understand Maori and Island people are less healthy than other races like Chinese and Indian, and are more overweight. But where does the "unequal access" part come from?

If an Island person turns up to their local clinic, what actually happens in terms of unequal access?

It also seems they are counting this "unequal access" twice:

The tool uses an algorithm to prioritise patients according to clinical priority, time spent on the waitlist, geographic location, ethnicity, and deprivation level

It's just that one test is racist, the other is not.

Absolutely feel for the poor evil whities, Chinese, Indians and others who don't have private healthcare in the North. Paying taxes to support a health system and Govt that hates them.

And if we are gonna bring race into it, why don't we conduct a study to determine the proportion of taxes that the average evil whitie contributes to the health system, and how much they cost the healthcare system on average too. Same for Chinese, Indians and all other races.

Cause, you know, EVERYTHING IS ABOUT RACE THESE DAYS.
