Breaking a common forum rule "Do not resurrect ancient threads" I ask the same question "sharebattler" asked in 2004.

I have been reading Stan Weinstein's 1998 TA book Secrets for Profiting in Bull and Bear Markets.

His analysis centres on the 30 week moving average. In simple terms, he says, buy on breakouts above the MA, where trading volume is high and relative strength is trending up, or above 0. Get out when price breaks down below the MA, or if the MA has levelled out and the price drops below recent support.

(There is quite a bit more information and variations to this discussed in his book of course!)

I am interested in comments from anyone who has come across his approach.

If you have access to Robert Colbys book
The Encyclopedia of Technical Market Indicators

you will find some testing/results he has done on MA crossovers. I have the book, but this may give you some idea. P 502

Thanks for this reference Arco!

I saw Colby's book in Borders, but didn't have the courage to buy it at the time. After reading the material in the link you posted, I have changed my forum signature. :o

In Weinstein's charts, the crossover he is interested in is the crossover of the share price line with the 30 week MA. He doesn't use a second MA to create indication points.

In case anyone is interested, here is a link to an article summarising his "stage analysis".

From a newbie's point of view, this seems like a simple place to start but I am very aware there is so much to learn ahead.
