well i set limits on how far I would let this retrace and theyve both been stopp profit'd out now, not quite as good as what might have been.... but thats forex. a win is a win....

Hi Peat

In a situation where there is already
a big win I often take a large percentage
off the table (circa 75%) and ride the balance
on a trailing stop.

shorted at 1.6499 , courtesy Max McKegg - kinda thought I was too late but gave it a 70 pip stop (which it almost ate up) but currently +60 will aim for 200 - stop brought down to 1.6525 now , wouldnt want a good trade to turn too bad.

But in a different direction
again setting the buy order during the day and almost having a quick take but no, having to let it come back a second time during the night and offer me 145 pips for breakfast mmmm tasty

Nice one Peat

How far /how are you calculating your stop on the overnight limit orders?
Just considering the risk / reward position.

good question Arco

my default setting in FXGame is SL=30 TP=100
but for this trade I set a 50 pip stop at 1.5699 this being where I had set the X point and TP was set to the previous days high at 1.5915 giving approx a 3:1 reward to risk ratio.

Hi All

Possible a,b,c in action giving potential for 450 pips
south to complete Red Gartley and 1300+ north if
this scenario unfolds.

PTZs shown for old blue BF and potential Red Gartley

Plot is slowly making its way south towards the red box
(see previous post) with an overnight low of 1.6286

So, circa 250 pips in the bag, and perhaps 100-150 more
pips left as we start to look for a turn north to gather the
main prize.

peat
14-02-2008, 12:52 PM
is this correction of the rally now another chance to enter for that main prize you think arco?
i tried to enter a couple of days ago at 1.6070 but only had a 40 pip stop and it went to 1.6000
I've dipped again (small) at this level 1.6160 and will give it significantly more room to move this time....

big spread and volatility - not an easy cross

so, have closed that last one out +68 and am seeing a bullish gartley shaping up so have put in limit buys all the way down to the D point.

peat
18-02-2008, 04:31 PM
bullsih gartley has perfectly completed. all entries executed - would have been better to wait and get them all at lower price (hindsight is brilliant!)
average price = 1.6111

dumbass

this one looks promising for a long

peats gartley morphed into butterfly on hourlies

on daily time frame bigger gartley printing right now

divergence on q stick

looks like c wave correction complete with a hammer bottom

dailyfx jamie reckons may go a tad lower but i would be tempted to have a go at a low risk entry on the hammer bottom as risk limit

dumbass
25-02-2008, 07:35 PM
hi peat

any thoughts on this one

waiting for a possible gartley entry on hourlies 159 66 sl 159.oo

peat
25-02-2008, 07:53 PM

but the short term uptrend last few days has been broken on the hourlies at 1400 today.

dumbass
27-02-2008, 10:34 AM
gartley entry at 159.66

just didnt see how this one was going to work

but its all in the charts up 100+

got done with this one and even though it was my big trade for the day it was still not even a small part of the farm
I now need to figure out if I did things wrong and yes it looks like I used the wrong extension to calculate the buy point.
I used the green 1.6 extension but the BC extension can be between 1.6 and 2.6. I should have used the 1.6 of XA which is the light blue one... it seems to have turned on a dime there at the 1.95 level - of course I'd been well stopped out... :(

Any thoughts on this pair on the daily?
Pretty massive triangle formation over the last 6 months - the compression has got tighter and tigher.

Hi Peat

Yes, quite a coil.

If it breaks and copies the flagpole distance it could be quite a move.

peat
19-03-2009, 12:16 PM
yes that would be over 3000 pips

I think I might start accumulating slowly with big stops.
