anyone been following ord.

Ord River Resources

Currently there is a JV between ORD (49%) and CNMIM (51%).
The ORD/CNMIM JV (70%) has an agreement with a Laos company (30%) to develop a 138 square kilometre
tenement on the Bolaven Plateau.
The bauxite potential, in and around the Joint Venture’s existing tenement, is estimated to be up to 2 – 2.5 billion
tonnes. Negotiations are in progress to secure additional tenements in the area.
With that potential ORD estimates an annual production of up to 20 mtpa (million tonnes per annum) of bauxite from
the Bolaven Plateau is possible, which may be refined to 5 – 7 mtpa of alumina.

I have watched this one since the float a couple of years ago. I always knew something big was going to happen with CNMIM (they hold more than 20%) but I could never pinpoint exactly what it might be so never had the guts to jump in. With those kind of numbers it's not looking too late...

WOW!!!

Bought in on Friday after my post last week due to the Laos project. Todays announcement is just an added bonus... a potentially massive one at that.

hi asxiou

it sure does look like a good find.

Media Release Monday 20 November 2006
Ord River Resources makes significant copper discovery in the
Kimberleys
Ord River Resources has potentially made one of the most significant discoveries in Australian copper mining
history, due to the very high grade of the copper involved.
The company is now set to embark on a major drilling campaign after identifying the deposits in the East
Kimberley area of Western Australia.
Rock chip samples taken from various locations at the tenement contain percentages up to 42.5% copper.
The average of seven rock chip samples over a 60-metre interval was 24.49% copper.
The zone of mineralisation is approximately 1500-m by 1000-m and open in all directions. The thicker parts of
the zone are between 3-m to 8-m, with a lateral extend of approximately 500-m by 1000-m.
“We are very excited by these findings,” said John Towner, Executive Chairman, ORD.
“We’ve found high grade copper in a flat mineralised zone just below the surface, so mining will be easy” said
Mr Towner.
To put this in perspective, the Mount Gunson copper mine in South Australia extracted 7.5 million tonnes of
rock at a grade of 1.9% copper between 1974 and 1986.
As a result, ORD has applied for additional areas of approximately 2000km2, in addition to its holdings of 692
km2.
With the additional tenements, which are expected to be granted within six months, ORD anticipates proving
up a sizeable deposit that may be up to five million tonnes in size. Grade will only be known after drilling is
carried out.
Taken together, the apparently very high grade of the copper and the potential size of the deposit means
there is real potential for a commercially successful mining operation.
ORD made the discovery after using data from a previous explorer which apparently did not recognise the
significance of its results.
“It was ORD’s systematic follow-up of those findings which revealed the area’s promise,” said Towner. “We’re
very proud of the high-quality work being done.”
ORD will further expand the exploration program to determine the commercial potential of the deposits. This
extensive program will occur early in the next dry season.
Further exploration will be assisted by ORD’s understanding of the structurally and stratigraphically controlled
nature of the mineralisation, which means ORD can more reliably predict where further deposits may lie.
“We are hopeful of being able to produce economic resources from the high grade of copper mineralisation
we have found so far. Further exploration will confirm the scale and quality of the resource,” said Towner.
The mineralisation lies in the uppermost Antrim Plateau Volcanics and in the lowermost part of the Headleys
Limestone. The strike length of the potential host rock to mineralisation, in our tenements and tenement.....

This is one report on this discovery and good luck to all involved -

Ord River Resources claims to have made potentially ‘one of the most significant discoveries in Australian copper mining’ after only 3 days work on a new prospect.

Unlike previous tenement holder CRA, Ord hasn't drilled a single hole at the project but, surface rock sampling over a 60-metre area found 7 rock samples with an average grade of 24.49% copper - including one containing 42.5%.

The shares rocketed 65% yesterday, closing 38c higher at 96c, after touching $1.10. This morning (21st) when I checked they were 80 cents.

Ord said it made the discovery at its Copper Flat prospect after ‘using data from a previous explorer [CRA], which apparently did not recognise the significance of the results’. Mr Towner said Ord was unlikely to be able to conduct its own drilling program until sometime next year because the wet season was starting.

Mr Towner and his father, executive chairman John Towner, hold about 56 million shares in Ord, which are due to come out of escrow in March. They received the shares in return for an outlay of $2480, or about 0.00004c each.

At an annual meeting last week which was scheduled in October, Ord approved the issue of 1 million options at a 40c strike price to each director.

I hope Mr Towner makes lots of money and that those investors paying big prices for stock in his firm are not disappointed. But share markets exist because of divergent valuations even when information is sound. But there is something wrong with a company reporting system that allows this type of premature information release.

Been researching ORD after reading about on HC...

Huge things set to happen this year! A sleeping giant, but not for long...

Huge potential, and huge backing...

Anyone else follwing this? This is no.1 on my "To-Buy" list now

I am not saying that this will not happen - just be very afraid basing decisions on HC postings. 90% are just ramping most of the time.

I agree bout HC. But did my research through the company website.

www.ord.com.au

holding up pretty well today for example...

A resource company with majority shareholders being made up mostly by China's biggest metals companies...CNMIM is huge for example and is majority shareholder.

Luo Tao
Non‐Executive Chairman
A senior economist with over 30 years experience in the nonferrous metals industry in China
He is also the Chairman of China Nonferrous Metals Int’l Mining Co., Ltd. (CNMIM) and President
of China Nonferrous Metals Mining (Group) Co. Ltd (CNMC).
He was a Vice Director of Beijing General Research Institute for Nonferrous Metals, Chairman of
Committee of Supervisors and Vice President of Aluminium Corporation of China Ltd (CHALCO).

COPPER FLATS COPPER PROJECT

We firmly believe Copper Flats in WA has the potential to be a major copper hub. A dedicated
exploration program is needed.

They have reported grades of up to 5% copper from samples..

ORD had 2 founding assets, Copper Flats, a large copper focused tenement in
Western Australia and Suplejack Gold Project in Northern Territory
In September 2006 CNMIM and ORD formed a JV Company called SARCO to explore
and develop a large bauxite deposit in Laos

ORD has a simple and effective strategy with 3 Components
1. Efficient and effective team and cost structure:
Reduction in head count has resulted in big ongoing cost savings. A team of 6 vs. more than 15 in
the past
Sale of equipment and subleasing of office space will bring down cost further
Review and monitoring of external service contracts will continue
2. Developing current projects aggressively:
ORD has three quality projects which have the potential to be world class in three of the hottest
commodities: Copper, Gold and Aluminium
Working closely with our partner China Nonferrous Metal Group
Examining all options for fast tracking development
3. ORD is well positioned to seek new projects as it has several advantages over its peers:
ORD has the support of its largest shareholder and JV partner China Nonferrous Metal Group.
A$10m equity line facility was announced in August
ORD has relationships with other large state‐owned and private resource entities in China
The recent decisions by FIRB will result in more interest from overseas in exploration and
development projects. ORD is well positioned to capitalise on this trend shift
In seeking acquisitions ORD’s good relationships with large Chinese banks and investment groups is a large adavantage

There is alot more goin on... as always, DYOR
