Hi All

I thought it may be helpful if forum members placed alerts on this
thread if they see a potential short time frame pattern emerging.

EG - there were 3 apperances last week just on the Chf.Jpy
alone which in all netted around 200+ pips. Targets were also
potentially well defined by channel trendlines. (See 1 hour chart).

11 minutes later
closed out +8 (trade included a 5 pip spread)

Hi Peat

Nice scalp....................

Maybe you should have sold half and let the rest ride
given that 'B' @ 618 may eventually produce a BF shape.

Looks like eur/jpy may test 167.59,if so there is a few pips to go,eur/usd same way at the moment.

Like the other night usd/jpy may do a late follow of eur/jpy,if so you get a jump on the move now.

EY update.

Just stepped out for an hour and returned very surprised to find
my 618 target was hit from a mini-Gartley trade (yellow) which formed
at the bottom of the BF (blue) mentioned earlier.

25 Easy pips - thanks Mr G.

Still potential to trade the bigger Monarch with an order pending
above if the pivot is surpassed.

Point to remember........consider waiting for the trade to come to you.

all said and done that was a bad trade... missed out on a potential 250 pips
always let a good trade go is the lesson - how many times till i learn it
will reset defaults on Oanda to larger values.

Nicely spotted Peat.

You could always scale out gradually at pre-determined points along the route......

Anyone heard what caused the sudden move????

As per the thread title I've spotted a butterfly on the NZD/JPY 15 minute time frame - starting at 21:45 last night (NZT) and with those two strong green candles at 07:15 it would seem to have now confirmed by breaking through 61. Stop might be about 60.60
On my slow bandwidth here I cant post pic sorry but B point at 00:45 this morning NZT.
I've entered at 61.12

Hey arco, I'm not sure if we're on the same wavelength or not tbh, I'm playing it long, heres my chart. Or are you preparing for a short? still I'm currently +24 so I guess thats an alright start. As I'm flying back this afternoon I will have to put a protective stop in place soon.

arco

Hi Peat

Yes, I was looking at a potential shorting scenario.

No position yet,, still watching the action.

Are you flying back from Aus?

Nice spot Maleny - did you get into town for one of Colin James famous ice creams?

When we lived on the SS coast his Caloundra shop was under our apartment - very tempting...

Got a new toy from GFT today. They released an "Autochartist" to help find forex butterflies and gartleys automatically. Is it a technically correct BF?

peat

looks good to me
I cant trade that pair tho.
it (the AUD/DKK) has even confirmed by breaking through the C point on the picture I attach (usually described as the B point tho as per your picture AMR)

Nothing much in the way of butterflies forming recently, it seems to find some older stuff as well. This is a gartley.

peat
12-06-2009, 08:03 PM
given thats a bullish gartley it doesnt look like a very successful one tho eh AMR?

I found some website recently (maybe a link on ST) that gave candlestick analysis on stocks and it was quite awesome esp considering it was free. You ask it to find some pattern such as a doji or a hammer and away it goes. cant find the link right now though.

AMR

was it the pattern site by Thomas Bulkowski? The software was patternz.

Not very convincing if it cant find something......

...........really all you have to do is set any chart on 15m and scrunch it up......here's one from yesterday - a bullish Gartley - result max circa 230 pips. First chart I eyeballed

You dont have to download anything on the stockTA one, you search for patterns on their website....e.g. http://www.stockta.com/cgi-bin/analysis.pl?candle=11&action=Module&cobrand=&symb=PBEGF

super short term gartley takes 18 pips on a trade 5x usual size. probably a signal for more up.
