Eden Energy has excellent prospects and has a variety of interests in alternative fuels based on hydrogen technologies, geothermal, natural gas and also products and processes associated with storage and conversions.

The major component im interested in is the hydrogen products and in particular Hythane which is being rolled out in India where the Indian govt is promoting cleaner energy sources. The blending of natural gas and hydrogen produces cost savings as well as lower emissions. This combination of cost savings and lower emissions were a particularly important result which secured the tender to supply within India.

116m ords
36m options Sept 2009 ex @ 20c

current makt cap around $A49m excl. opts

Cashflow burn rate is relatively high so additional shares may need to be issued before options and income increases to cover out-goings

The company also intends to divest its geothermal assets into a new company Terratherma and complete an IPO. It also intends to divest its UK and SA gas interests into a new AIM listed vehicle. Eden will retain significant holdings in both new vehicles but will focus its resources on the hydrogen component.

There seems to be a PR issue with management but have not seen anything to understand why this might be the case

Eden Energy has the following interests
Hydrogen technologies

Hydrogen technology & patents for the use and storage of hydrogen both as a liquid and a gas
HythaneŽ - transitional technology for converting gas engines to run on hydrogen; major pollution reducing benefits
Cryogenic storage systems
Fuel Tanks, Fuel Systems, pumps, conversion kits
SMESS - Superconducting Magnetic Electrical Storage System
Hydrogen production - on-site hydrogen generation systems and supply solutions for industrial and consumer manufacturing processes and for transportation refueling applications
South Wales Projects

Coal Bed Methane
Abandoned Mine Methane
Conventional petroleum
Natural Gas

Arthur Hill Anticline - Mulgaria Sub-basin; Adelaide Geosyncline, South Australia
Geothermal Energy - deep heat mining for clean continuous power

Witchelina Project, located between Leigh Creek and Roxby Downs, South Australia
Renmark Project, South Australia
Moomba North Project, South Australia
Bollards Lagoon Project, South Australia
Mungeranie Project, South Australia
Hydrogen from Natural Gas Pyrolysis

Development of a cost-effective, low-temperature, CO2-free hydrogen production system

It's almost scary, the way we seem to be looking at the same companies!

I've held off posting on EDE as i havent bought in yet...

I do like it's potential, but Management are selfish & greedy & seem to be in it for themselves.

There Hythane project in India seems to be the jewel in the crown.

What else are you currently holding by the way?

Oh, & for those wanting a cheap entry into EDE, check out TAS...

Will start a thread on TAS soon ;)

Whilst the Alternative Energy cat is out of the bag, have a look at CNM...

(I'll start a thread for this soon too)

Just be very careful about hydrogen tech in general. I have not done any work into this company so I cant comment in detail.

Hydrogen is still not a viable alternative energy source. It is still about 50 years away before it can be economical to use. Hydrogen research burns throu capital like fire. It cost more to develop the gas into hydrogen than to use the gas itself.

I have friends who do research in this field.

nice one again bear.
theyve got a good story to tell, especially the hydrogen businesses (hythane generators look a beauty and the hydrogen station construction could turn out to be a nice earner).

they do seem to have fingers in many pies, which adds significant risk IMO.
especially in light of the high cash burn rates, with enough to cover the next quarter.
im curious as to how you spend ~11million on administration in 9 months! thats 110 people earning more than 100K!

id want to see them closer to generating revenue. at the moment, it seems as though they are forming lots of relationships and demonstrating tech to potential customers to get traction in the market; so possibly 12 months away from getting money in the door.

will be watching this one closely to see how well they go about their housekeeping and spin-offs. too early for mine.

I totally agree, this company relies on cheap natural gas as a feed stock. Peak gas will follow peak oil!

A hydrogen economy will not take off because it conflicts with the laws of physics.

Don't currently hold ... sold a while back but wouldn't touch again until funding secure and more runs on the board ..... could remain suspended for a while.

This is a bit incestuous, as TAS own a big chunk of both EDE & FIS

Why would FIS, a Uranium explorer want to provide funds to EDE?

It seems the TAS managment have the snouts in both troughs...

I didn't have any time for the market yesterday and set the sell price a bit too high (near the 10 cents mark. I thought it might do the Mar 31st action again but if I looked at the volume yesterday, I would have exited.

I guess you got in before lunch...
I fell in on Friday, and was prepared to languish a while.
Trading Halt, anyone aware of the pending news? I assume it is good news on its way to the market...

EDE - Eden appointed by Woodward as a RER in India

http://www.stocknessmonster.com/news-item?S=EDE&E=ASX&N=505361

With India being such a large untapped market, EDE has the first mover advantage & if it's Hythane projects ever gain India wide scale (& they are in the US as well) EDE could well be a mega multi-bagger from these levels.

If economic conditions improve they may well spin out there geothermal, natural gas & CSG projects (in Australia & the UK) to unlock some value.

EDE could then retain a small stake up to 20% or take up a royalty agreement

EDE - Eden Energy to Spinout New ASX Listing for UK Gas Project

http://stocknessmonster.com/news-item?S=EDE&E=ASX&N=556734

HIGHLIGHTS
• Eden Energy Ltd (“Eden”) plans to spinout its’ wholly owned UK coal seam methane/shale
gas subsidiary, Eden Energy (UK) Ltd into a new proposed ASX listing to be called Adamo
Energy Ltd (Adamo).

• Independently reported Shale Gas Unrisked Prospective Mean Resources GIIP for part of
the licence area, of which Eden holds 50%, stand at 49.8 TCF.

• This spinout will be undertaken as soon as it is deemed that the market conditions are

Perth-based Eden Energy Limited (ASX: EDE) has passed a critical step in its bid to break into lucrative US infrastructure markets with its carbon-strengthened concrete additive, EdenCrete.

And Also this from The Australian WELL WORTH a Read

Following a favourable vote from the Georgia Department of Transportion [GDOT], EdenCrete will initially be “Allowed for Use” in GDOT’s ‘Class 24-Hour accelerated concrete mix’ by concrete suppliers to GDOT for road repairs, following further impressive results from field trials. Additionally approval was also given for a second field trial of EdenCrete in the Class A concrete mix used by GDOT in its road construction, and which is used for most of GDOT’s other concrete requirements.

“We have crossed a major hurdle in getting into the US infrastructure market,” Eden Energy,” Eden Energy Executive Chairman, Greg Solomon told The Australian Investor.

“First of all, we had to convince them to conduct a field trial and then we got results that exceeded their expectations. That has resulted in our product now being available for use in GDOT’s highway repair jobs, which accounts for something like 20% of the GDOT concrete usage, and for testing in relation to possible use in the balance of their concrete.

“GDOT engineers will now have to develop specifications for its use in the GDOT concrete specifications, a process that may take 3 months or more, after which GDOT engineers and designers would be able to include it in the concrete specifications for future repair projects.

“A recent Federal DOT Fact Sheet in July 2015 highlighted the grim state of US roads and bridges. As an example, 146,000, or 24%, of the 605,000 bridges in the US were identified as being either structurally deficient or functionally obsolete.

“The US Geological Survey identified the 48,000,000 tons of cement that was used on the US interstate highways in 2005 represented almost 40 per cent of all cement used in the USfor all purposes in 2005. By area, Georgia is the eleventh largest state in the US, and the largest state east of the Mississsippi. It is a really serious step forward to gain entry to this market,” he said.

Of further significance is the fact that on 20 November 2015 the US Surface Transportation Act became law with the support of both part political parties, securing funding of over US$360 billion for the Federal Department of Transportation for the next 6 years. Over the last 6 years over 30 separate Acts were required for this purpose

Should find away of changing the thread title as most think this is a risky spekky junior energy stock still. Still can't be given out on a plate; all the fun is in sleuthing little Gems (hopefully) like this one. Proof will be in some decent orders coming in though; so too early to assume; costs and benefits have to stack up in the commercial world.

Love that last paragrah

Eden intends to assist GDOT engineers and designers wherever possible to draft precise specifications to cover the use by GDOT of EdenCreteTM in in its Class 24-Hour accelerated concrete mix applications and also its Class B concrete application. The timing of this process is not certain but the department’s estimate is up to three to six months.
Georgia Infrastructure Market
In addition to thousands of miles of concrete roads and highways, Georgia has in excess of 15,000 concrete bridges (ranging from small to large), a recent audit of which indicated that over 4,000 were not suitable for repair and need to be replaced over the next 20 years, at an estimated annual cost in excess of $300 million per year.

If this process in Georgia results in a full approval by GDOT of the use of EdenCreteTM in concrete for all its infrastructure being obtained and specifications for its use being developed, it is considered likely to accelerate the process of obtaining similar approvals by the Departments of Transport in other US States, with Eden’s longer term objective being the opening up of the national US infrastructure market.

LONDON, Feb.8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- World demand to reach $24 billion in 2019

Global demand for cement and concrete additives is forecast to grow at a healthy pace, reaching $24.0 billionin 2019. These increases reflect continuing growth in construction activity across the globe that will, in turn, drive global usage of cement. Increasing additive usage rates in developing countries, as well as a broader shift to higher performing specialty additives, will further support advances in additive demand. The types of additives being utilized will be impacted by environmental concerns, with the choice between blended and portland cements influencing additive demand on a national and regional basis.

China to remain largest, fast growing market

Despite a more challenging economic environment, China will remain the largest and one of the fastest growing markets for cement and concrete additives. This growth will be driven by rising urbanization and the resulting investment in public infrastructure projects such as highways and bridges, as well as by rising additive treatment rates. However, China's role as the dominant driver of global cement and concrete additive demand will diminish, as the importance of markets in developing countries such as India and Turkeycontinues to grow. By 2024, India is forecast to be the fourth largest market for cement and concrete additives, behind Japan. Growth in demand in the other countries in the Asia/ Pacific region and the Africa/Mideast region will also benefit from increasing urban populations. Construction activity is expected to remain strong or accelerate in developed regions, such as North America and Western Europe, driving demand for additives for concrete in buildings.

Environmental concerns to favor mineral additives

The product mix of cement used within a country, which is increasingly being dictated by environmental concerns, especially in developed countries, can also strongly influence additive demand. High or increasing use of blended cements is a particularly important factor. The use of blended cements favors the use of chemical and fiber additives that increase blended cements' competitiveness with portland cement in the high performance applications where portland cement remains the product of choice. To remain competitive with blended cements, portland cement producers are replacing progressively larger portions of clinker with supplementary cementitous materials, which results in a "greener" and lower cost product. In countries where portland cement usage is high or increasing, this trend will support growth in mineral additive demand.

Chemicals to remain largest additive segment

Chemicals will continue to be the largest cement and concrete additive segment by value, with gains driven by increasing demand for high strength concrete in industrialized nations, and continued penetration of advanced chemical additives into the construction industries in developing countries. Growth in demand for fiber additives will outpace the other major additive types, as governments invest in large infrastructure projects such as roads and bridges that utilize fibers. Mineral additive demand will also post gains, driven by increasing utilization of supplementary cementitious materials as replacement for portland cement clinker

Up re 18% today to 13c. 50 and 20 mill shares thru last two days big vol spike.

Heres some history courtesy of flamingdudeofdoom. Like it that Hythane is still a part of EDE.

People new to this stock seem to be unaware of the true vision of EDE, Eden energy was incorporated in 2004 by Tasman Resources after Greg Solomon attended a seminar in which Hythane (HCNG) was being discussed. Greg liked the idea so much TAS purchased it and branched EDE off, the developers of Hythane (Frank Lynch and Roger Marmaro) then moved to Eden running Hythane in Colorado.
HCNG (Hythane) a mixture of Methane and a small amount of Hydrogen is aimed primarily at large bus and truck fleets dramatically reducing CO2 and NOX emissions which is ideal in countries like India where although converting their millions of public buses to CNG in 1991 had the undesired effect of increasing NOX emissions (oxides of Nitrogen or photochemical smog) which claim 500,000 lives a year due to respiratory issues.
To produce the Hydrogen for the HCNG, EDE used to own Hyradix reformers which used high temperature steam to separate the H2 from Methane gas (CH4). This then caused the carbon to join with the O2 forming CO and CO2, both undesirable in the production of a low emission fuel, also the H2 was still also costly to make, making the HCNG a costly "premium" fuel. So although there are improvements in performance and reductions in overall emissions without issues like Hydrogen embrittlement, the cost and the emissions in the production was a stumbling block.
Eden began working with the University of Queensland to try and convert the Carbon into a "solid state" so it could be easier disposed of. BAM, hey presto their byproduct accidently formed into Carbon nanotubes (CNT) then only a short time later there was the realisation that CNT are worth coin and the H2 then became the byproduct. All good cause theoretically CNT have 1000,000 and 1 uses, however there were none around to sell tons of CNT to off set H2 production and make HCNG cheaper. Now comes the story of Edencrete500, Eden had to develop their own product that they could use tons of CNT, they tried rubber (replacing carbonblack with CNT), they are STILL working on plastics and the beloved cement. The Van Walls effect (clumping due to the CNT carrying a charge) always came back to bite, that then overcome by using a surfactant (the two methods that can be used a surfactants or sonic dispersal), the shelf life then took 12months to fix. Trial and error, GFC's and cr's now here we are.
Note at the end of this there is no mention of Hythane being gone, it is and always has been the main game, yes Edencrete500 is a game changer but it also serves to make HCNG affordable. There are plenty of companies working on making cars greener but few working on making dirty trucks and buses green and we're talking Euro IV standards as well as being CARB ( California air resources board) accredited, even OptiBlend are tuned to run HCNG and will then displace upto 80% of the diesel.
