Do I need my eyes checked? I have never seen an index jump near on 8% before in one session. That is an amazing short-covering rally!
I have to stick this screen clipping in the scrapbook for posterity...

Bloomberg market data puts Ftse closer to 9%
Bovespa Brazil 9.57%, Ftse 8.84%, Dax 5.56%, Dow 3.35%, Nikkei 3.76%, S&p500 4.03%, Asx200 4.2%
Apparently the Ftse's biggest ever daily gain ( ? )

Yes, I posted that original post early on in trading and it closed higher. Though I think the gains on financials were probably near their highs in early trading and later in the day it may have been other stocks pushing the gain?

Things are seriously weird when the FTSE is 5.4% down for the session and I've just caught myself cheering it.... as it attempts to rally hard from an open of 8% down.
Time to get real and find a novel to read! :p

The Pound was USD 1.45 a year ago. It is currently USD 1.28. I would be surprised if the FTSE100 were not at record levels as it comprises multinationals.
The British government is currently seeking a new relationship, which will inevitably be on worse terms than currently, with its biggest trading partner. The Brexit vote devaluation is already affecting British spending power.
