The drilling results sound very encouraging to me !!!
A 25M 'new oil zone' in the LK1A sandstones may result in a significant reserves upgrade for the SW although new 3D seismic will probably need to be shot. I am hoping for better things from the lower formations - but in this market will anyone care!!!

hmm well AED has held steady at about $1.50 throughout this crisis. i think they will bounce hard if the market ever has an upswing.

As others on HC said, Sinopec obviously knew more than the market did, and are fast tracking the puffin fields to get the good stuff out.

i am accumulating more at these prices. one of the cheapest producers going around.

check this out...
AED's market cap is 90 million dollars...

it has 264million dollars of cash (and equilivants)....

Production assets of 118 million dollars worth of crude production not yet sold (it held back selling produced oil claiming low prices, and did say it was selling this period)...
other income of 33m, (interest income, foreign exchange gains)....
it has had a sharp fall in overall production, and recent poor drilling results have write down of puffin assets by 86 million...

Ive only breezed over the report out a few days ago...
looks like an absolute ripper...
a few negatives in there, positives MUST out weigh negatives...
it seems not!
share price falls sharply of late.... share price remained stable between one dollar and 80cents over the last 5 months...
sharp falls continue this week...under 60cents now with the downward spiral of this once mighty aussie oiler...
boy how things change...

one dollar to 10... 10 dollars to 60cents...

SC I don't think the $118m is crude inventory. That is the production property assets. Crude inventory is much less at $11m

you are absolutely right...
breezed through it I said...:D.....
3 times as much cash than market cap...
Market is discounting puffin big time...
Peter Strachan was right...

Has AED paid the tax on the sale of it's permit(s)?

If this is the case, i'm more than interested ;)

shasta,
Sinopec paid north of $3.50 for their stake in AED...
actually closer to $3.70....
Id say AED is a reasonable punt at these prices.... south of 60cents per share...wow... ive watched it at 7 bucks..... 6....5....4....3...2 bucks... 1.50 bucks... 1 buck... seen it trend at 80c-$1 for ages.... 75cents... 70cents... didnt say nothing at 65cents.....didnt say anything at 60cents.... saw it fall through 60cents...
57cents...
and then posted...
I said nothing for yonks...........
who cares that I wasnt totally researched on the numbers...
I said it...

???

I wasnt over rampant.... I wonder why I wasnt....??

given production downgrade, outlook, prices, and recent performance.....
still a great punt at these prices I reckon.......
there are other punts arounds beter than this... but who will call them....
I will....!
TSV....

please, somebody tell me something almighty Sinopec doesnt/didnt know?....

giant cash reserves......
like nothing else....
corporate raised a major point I missed on my breeze...
I hope ive got the ball rolling even though I missed a major point... prob a first ever.....

downside opening when?
well who picks a stock in a major downward trend in a major crisis...
.... who posts when they are in a bullish trend and thend pulls everything....

55c-57c....
I will post the moment of changing sentiment......
this is a buy right now... accounting means nothing

peace and luck to everyone...

Oh STRAT, your charts are getting better and better :)

But yes...the Dow has gone up 1000 points, while AED goes into freefall. Rather obvious that something has gone wrong.

AA if you are reading this, what's your means reversion take?

.^scmmmm hasnt sunk yet shrewdy but still lying low in the water

Chart shows a few positive indicators
Note smoke still coming from the stack and more important the small upturn of the wake wave at the bottom RH corner. This indicates the propeller is still turning. Looking for an increase in momentum here :D

Somewhere between posting the first chart and the second a few nice size yellow fin Tuna accidentally came on board through an open port hole near the captains cabin

Sounds all a bit "fishy" if you ask me Strat :DI agree Yankiwi. Its all fine and good to get a divi such as free Tuna steaks for dinner but perhaps we should be more interested and concerned about the water coming on board. After all the Captains cabin is just behind the bridge and well above the waterline :D

strat,
yup...
with the bear market rally over...
and the next downwards cycle in motion...
it would now make sense to bounce on out of AED...

AED secures half of The Longtom project from NXS...

looks like a pretty good deal for them...
NXS falling 16% after a lengthly trading halt...

Well...
I said its probably time to get out of AED...
And then Great Auk failed...
and the sp didnt fall back to where it was at the beginning of the well...
Puffin 13 appraisal results will be out next week...
I probably should have stuck with my previous sentiment...
lm missing/missed lots of good trades recently...

AED was a 'thanks for coming', type investment... sinking ship or not eah Strat...

xman: just "trawling" (allusion to Strat's wonderful sense of humour here) through today's postings and came across yours. I know virtually nothing about AED but, just looking at the charts, it seems you should have been well and truly out of them ages ago!

Nobody has posted on this bad boy for almost a year.

A quiet day at work found me with a bit more time to troll though today's announcements. Just for the heck of it, I checked this one out from AED:

http://www.stocknessmonster.com/news-item?S=AED&E=ASX&N=343369

I know nothing much about O&G, but this announcement seems rather encouraging. Share price has been beaten down to around 50c.

Comments from any of the oilers out there would be welcome.

(PS Was lucky and made a motza on this stock, before AED's big fall from grace a few years back)

Brunei game still has long ways to go . But , it could get interesting . TAP in very similar position , high pressure gas kicks make it interesting but doesn't tell all . Workovers will be necessary and by the time that takes place , interest could well wane . AED may well wait and see how TAP go about their biz . Just might get all too hard for a company such as AED . Brunei game may only add up to supplementary feed stock to nearby gas plants
