Hello, I thought that some time ago I read (on share trader)that it was possible to use incredible share charting site with NZ shares. Whats in my mind is that I would have to add a few letters to the nz company code. I have just been looking for it but can not find it.

Start to wonder now if I got it wrong and maybe its not possible.

Can somebody please help me out my missery if it can be done.

You can do it Forrest but I dont think you can load the whole exchange at one time

Here is the path
Open Incedible Sharts
At top left of screen
click on Securities
scroll down to
LOAD SYMBOL FROM YAHOO
enter code and load exchange in lower part of window

Hi Strat and Whirly, thanks a lot for your input. Whirly, I am not too familiar with saving things in folders, so was wondering if you could explain in a bit more detail for me. I did copy the list in notepad, called it nzx.viz, but am not too sure where to save it. I went "my computer", "c-drive", "program files", "Incredible Charts" and stuck it there. But it does not show in my IC watchlist. Any clues as to what I am doing wrong would be muchly appreciated. Cheers!!

whirly.
Import files to IC ...IC will only look for .Viz .Ini or .list files.. so the notepad file doesn't show up on the list to import.

I have copied your list to notepad...how do you proceed from here.

Do you save the Notepad from .txt to .viz format so the IC import can see that ex-notepad file ..if so how do you do that?

Edit: whew thxs for your post Forrest... glad I'm not alone...I was starting to doubt my level of intelligence and was about ready to downgrade

ratkin

just saving it and calling it something with .vis at the end doesnt work, its still a notepad file

dartMonkey

1. go to File
2. go to Save As
3. Where it says File Name put the name you want in, include ".viz" and quotes eg.:
"myFile.viz"
The quotes are absolutely necessary.
4. Where it says Save As Type make sure you select "All Files (*.*)"
5. Click the Save button.
You now have a .viz file as opposed to a .txt file.
Notepad will open both. There's no such thing as a notepad file although it may be set as the default program to open text (.txt) files.

If you dig down deeper into IC you should find a file with IC watchlists in it. Might even be called watchlists. The program I use has them stored in a folder called Data.

That worked cheers.

Open up incredible charts and click on import data , which is on the file tab at top left.

Search for the viz file which you saved and click import. The file will then show up on incredible charts as a watchlist

Thanks very much all, I now also have managed to add the list as a "watchlist". However..... when I try to use the stock screens page in IC (view, stockscreens), the NZX list does not come up under the drop-down list for watchlist on that particular screen. In the manual it says "when screening watchlists it is important that stocks on the Watchlist are from the selected exchange, stocks from other exchanges will be ignored". The NZX does not appear under the exchange drop-down list. Does anybody know how to fix this? Thanks so much :-)

Cant screen NZX as far as I can tell Forrest. I put a message up at IC forums but never got an answer.

Glad you sussed out the watchlist though, well done.

I believe this is because IC dont have an agreement with NZX.

If you want to use yahoo data there are plenty of software available on the internet to download NZ share data besides IC .
Yahoo data is probaby suitable for most people to give an idea of general trend of stocks and its free , why pay for such a slow exchange ya must be mad lol.

cheaper to source data for most exchanges oversea's like for most things in NZ

bull.... unless you buy the premium package the nzx data will still be delayed but an advantage for free users will be the IC stock screens and filters will be able to be applied to the NZX.

It looks like IC are no longer putting up NZ charts. They say that Yahoo will no longer allow them to use Yahoo data. I might have to use findata again. I knew them years ago when the were called Henley. Any other suggestions?

I can't seem to get the screener to work for NZX/ASX codes on TradingView. Only the US Market securities are shown - any suggestions or is it just a limitation of the software.

I'm not complaining though, it's much better than IC or BigCharts which is what I was using previously

At this stage TradingViee has got my attention, it's using the same engine as Investing.com which I'm already familiar with, but now for NZX stocks. Impressive.

That said there's a couple of things on my mind.

1. Registering with Investing.com I got spammed big time with signup prompts for online share and forex trading as well as direct sales calls to my mobile ... until I blocked the incoming calls, numerous and persistent. I hope TradingView isn't a repeat but won't be surprised if it is.

2. Colin Twiggs from Incredible Charts seem to be concerned to lose his NZX customers. It all comes down to the costs of him providing NZX data. He has a survey here: http://www.incrediblecharts.com/phpsv/index.php?sid=77974&token=R531724548

To be honest, I just want a reliable charting service and data. IC have done this for a long time and I've been happy but I'll move on to the alternatives if IC can't deliver and do it quickly.

I got the survey from Colin Twiggs at Incredible Charts asking if there was sufficient interest in NZX data. I am already paying about $20 for the ASX service and for $29.95 he will offer the premium service to include NZX 20 minute delayed. That would suit me, I am familiar with IC, and the other US based sites are not in the same class.
Apparently one of his major costs is that the NZX charge $1,000 per month for data....even if it is end of day, or delayed till late in the evening.

I am now using tradingview and it is better than IC, giving 20 min updates during the day with fundamental data on the same page, brilliant,no more yahoo data recording stat holidays as a flat trading day, throwing indicators out.
I will pay for a subscription as it gives more features and indicators per chart, but the free version is still better than IC.
I would have stayed with IC if they provided reliable data or even yahoo data but...

Top left of chart screen, say type in ATM and a drop box will drop with all the choices, choose the right one and the chart will open. If you push any key say for FBU press the f key and lots of options are shown to load.
I have all NZ shares in my watchlist,I can either scroll through them with the arrow keys or type a letter and choose.
