Currently in a trading halt pending the release of details regarding a 'significant coal transaction'.

Could go for a run if the market likes what they have to say.

HC, you amaze me mate, 1st cab off the rank every time lol.

What was your entry on this one HC, it seems the stock has only traded since Feb 12th?

Seems to be a few coal stocks going for runs over the last little while.

HC; I hope I am going to be able to thank you even more, for drawing this one to our attention. Interesting that HUN and CPL have moved more or less in tandem, since the HUN float. I only hold HUN, but what is your current weighting between the two?

3 to 2 in favour of CPL Colin. You are right that HUN and CPL are pretty much tracking each other. HUN in a trading halt and CPL are overdue for a JORC upgrade (supposed to be by the end of March).

Drilly, I didn't get in on the HUN's float, but got in soon after, and, to answer a previous question, I got out of GOT at 96c....well shy of its highs around $1.30 unfortunately....but, the gain was there for the taking had I not been so greedy.....

HC: I remain forever in your debt, for pointing us in the direction of HUN (up 62% on my entry price) and also GIR (up 74%).

And I see that HUN would-be buyers far outweigh sellers, at yesterday's close.

Colin...I've picked some pretty good underperformers as well, so maybe the kudos should go to you for being discerning.

Great day for the HUNs, and maybe a good day to have taken some profits (?). Powerful forces seem to be at work here, so I'll continue to hold and go with the flow.

Aw, shucks! And you're just too modest, HC. (This is turning into a Mutual Admiration Thread!)

An excellent burst to round off the week, although it did taper off a little at the last hurdle. However, there are still plenty of unsatisfied buyers and I'm also staying the course at this stage. The more I read about the overall Mongolian mining story the more positive I feel - at the same time recognising the dangers of over-optimism, of course!

HUN up another 10.9% today.

Definitely thought we'd give some of Friday's great gains back to the market today Colin, but I was quite wrong.

Yep HC, another coal transaction today (WEC) but CPL drops so it's just random picking.

The lot of RHM sold today at 23 was mine. Talk about suicide timing. However, I got some more in another account so you can't complain. Glad I got out of BUL at 23.5 last week. $700 each way so it's like B/E if I still got both. Venting again as I am obviously still an amateur. A pro looked past these emotional roller coaster.

HC: I am sorry to have to confess that I yielded to temptation yesterday and sold half of my HUN. Father, forgive me! The 130% gain was just too alluring! I might re-enter on a pullback, which must inevitably happen.

Colin, my Son, that will be seven Hail Mary's....

Sold one third of my holding today, so pretty much free carried on the balance.

April 29 (Bloomberg) -- Hunnu Coal Ltd. (http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=HUN%3AAU), an Australian company developing coal mines in Mongolia, is studying the sale of shares in Hong Kong next year to fund new operations.
“The plan is to dual-list it on the Hong Kong stock exchange, middle to late-next year,” Chairman Matthew Wood said today in an interview in Bloomberg’s Melbourne bureau. The company sold A$20 million ($19 million) in shares in an initial public offering and began trading in Australia in February.
Hunnu may join other Mongolia-focused mining companies including SouthGobi Energy Resources Ltd. (http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=1878%3AHK), the Canada-listed mining company backed by China’s sovereign wealth fund, and Energy Resources LLC in seeking capital by listing in Hong Kong. Coal prices doubled and shipments to China tripled last year.
“When we go to Hong Kong we’ll have numbers very similar to” the market value (http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=1878%3AHK) of SouthGobi, he said, without providing further details. SouthGobi has a market value of HK$18.78 billion ($2.4 billion), compared with Hunnu’s A$140 million.
Hunnu shares dropped 9.4 percent to 87 cents at the 4:10 p.m. Sydney time close on the exchange, following a fall of 12 percent yesterday. The decline (http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=HUN%3AAU) came after Mongolia suspended the issue of mining license and barred the practice of transferring the permits as companies fail to explore for minerals.
The changes don’t affect Hunnu as it already has its licenses, Wood said “That has no bearing on anything we do.”
Hunnu is in talks with Mongolian and Chinese companies for sales agreements for production from the Unst Khudag mine, Wood said. Decisions on these accords may be reached in the next three months, he said.
SouthGobi, operating in the deserts of southern Mongolia, raised HK$3.06 billion in its share offering, according to an e- mail to fund managers on Jan. 22. The company, controlled by Vancouver-based Ivanhoe Mines Ltd., started production at its Ovoot Tolgoi mine in southern Mongolia last year and aims to use the money raised in the share sale to boost output, improve infrastructure and finance exploration.

I took my gains on Hunnu earlier, HC, when they shot up past $1 - actually realised over 100%, over a satisfyingly short time (and this helped to offset some of the grief from other disappointments in the mining arena.) Have been looking at them again, wondering whether there is now another bout of exhilaration to be experienced. They seem to be eager to make even further acquisitions and while they seem to be able to winkle out some attractive buys I am beginning to wonder what happens when the cash runs out, i.e. how soon will shareholders face a further capital raising?

LATER: Sorry HC, I have just noticed your earlier posts (about a possible HK listing) which obviously answers the thrust of my question. I will study closely.

Well, I plunged in again today and managed to get some at 70c. I see they are now at 80c. Phaedrus, if I break the "no buying" rules and win, do I still get demerit points?!!

Yes, I have been doing a little buying this week, but only gold and black gold. Am also on the prowl for the "right" oil producer. One has to hedge against eventual inevitable inflation arising from all the "funny money" that Governments and supra-national bodies are shovelling into the works. There are two definitions of inflation that are embedded in my psyche:
"Too much money chasing too few goods".
"Debasement of the currency".

15% in a day isn't bad Colin...

I've now replaced all the stock I sold over $1 (and then some).

Glad to hear you are also back in, HC. I have been a little bit more cautious this time, but was pleased to observe that there was still relatively strong buying interest at the end of today.

Onward and upward again, HC, with continued strong buying interest.

Interesting making a comparison with CPL's recent performance; at least partly attributable, I imagine, to perceptions around Australia's proposed "Robin Hood" tax on profits from local mining. But, apart from that, HUN seems to have a well planned strategy to take advantage of the emerging opportunities in Mongolia - "The New Saudi Arabia of Mining"!

And a great finish to today's trading, HC. Fortunately I didn't overreact to the recent dip in the sp, but held on because I could see that the buying interest was still strong.

50% in a month.... Nice going guys. Been try to look at this one a bit, didn't realise it was another Matthew Woods coy

Huang Chung

All I've heard about Matthew Woods is that he's done some capital raising at fairly deep discounts in the past. With $13m in the bank, we can hopefully do enough acquisitions/drilling to get the share price up before we have to think about a capital raising. But hopefully, the Hong Kong listing might put some more money in the till as well.

What else should we know about Matthew Woods trackers?

And, sure enough, it looks like we're breaking out.

HUN used to trade fairly much in line with CPL, but then CPL moved forward significantly. AKM, also with Coking Coal in Mongolia, seems to have outperformed as well.

I reckon Hunnu will now be playing catchup.

Sold out today.

Not impressed with the release on their resource upgrade. Lots of technicals on coal quality, but nothing in terms of non-technical appraisal by management for shareholders, which makes me extremely cautious. There have also been a couple of comments on HC which suggests the coal quality isn't all that great....make what you want out of that, but in view of managements lack of analysis, I'm giving those views some creedance.

7 months since the last post and HUN could be done and dusted for AUD$1.80. Since Banpu took a strategic stake at $1.50, I always view HUN as a takeover target. Then, this impatient mongrel sells it for $1.28 last week. The same happen to CEY when Banpu took a largish stake. I guess history repeats itself again with the Banpu deals. And again I missed out.
