Taking a positive stance here on 26th May 2010. We are officially in a "correction".

Some will be holding onto their porfolio and waking each morning, frightened to see what the world has done overnight and get home each night to find they are a further 2 or 3% down.

Others have cashed up and are eagerly sitting waiting in the wings to buy some bargains.

Others are doing hardout TA so they KNOW when the BUY signals are present.

As a bit of fun, I propose a very small competition.

WHICH SHARES WILL MAKE THE BIGGEST BOUNCE BACK, IN ONE MONTHS TIME?

Prices will be taken at 4pm on Friday 28th May (3 days time)....and compared to Friday 25th June 2010.

Each Participant gets to choose 3 shares. (ASX only - same competition running on NZX). Once posted, no changes are allowed.

Your entries should contain the following information:

Share: STX
Current Price: 0.235
Predicted Price 0.26
Reason: Moving Average 200 days is .26 and this has been the average price post the last corrections.

The winner will be the Sharetrader with the largest combined total increase on 25th June and will receive a mystery prize!

Good luck to all who are up to the challenge... a bit of fun amongst the doom and gloom of the news!

Get your 3 choices in on this thread NOW..while you're thinking about it. :p

Too big to fail. Government will bail them out.

Assuming that the next month will actually see a recovery (huge if, in my opinion)

Share: AVB
Current Price: 0.018
Predicted Price 0.025
Reason: Oversold penny dreadful.. Too cheap for JORC copper resource, any good news will move it well

Share: BLYDA
Current Price: 2.59
Predicted Price 3.00
Reason: Oversold mining services (BP problems causing US onshore/offshore drilling uncertainty, Aus Resources rent tax weighing it down, and people staying away until consolidation is over).

Share: BUL
Current Price: 0.16
Predicted Price 0.20
Reason: Don't, and won't hold... But too cheap at 0.16 for its CSG acreage (even given resources rent tax)

The bank can't go broke???

Have you completely missed the last 3 years?

Sure, I take your point - they'll bail the *system* (until the day they can't), but that doesn't guarantee anything for shareholders.

Hey Stratty,

I agree, TA will tell us when the bottom has arrived, however as everyone is waiting for that bottom, they are still reflecting on where they are going to put their money for the hoped for bounce up...Where's your 3 guesses?

By the way, I guess I should declare mine....

Share: NGE
Current Price: 0.205
Predicted Price 0.24

Share: IDL
Current Price: .335
Predicted Price .37

Share: SIP

Hey Stratty,

...Where's your 3 guesses?

...Dont see how I can even make an educated guess here PF. For one thing the 25th aint that far away. Its on the cards we wont see a bounce by then.

Must say though BUL is looking attractive. If it drops a few more cents I could be tempted

yep me too. i got a BUY in at 12. well see.Hi Roy.
Not today I would think.

Actually Im a bit confused. World markets all down again last night and most of my ASX watch list is in the blue

no. my 12 is looking highly unlikely. im all blue today too. my watch list is over 30 (if onyl!) and thats mixed bag. only hold three stocks these days though. not sure what that says either. could be their bottom found, or people now just used to the bad news and not so hurried to sell on the back of it. interesting times

DOW - Downer EDI Limited is looking attractive today, was trading above $9 less than 6 months ago, got some today for $4.25.

AA

I was looking at them as well.
Looks like they are at or near the bottom, and with the big white candle on Friday, thought it could be a goer, but went further down today last time I looked, so trying head Mr P's advice and not buy a share going down! may wait and see what the Dow (US index) does overnight

Appreciate your comments and graphs and would agree with you AA

I was also looking at the reisitence/Support (as noted on your top chart) as well - at around 4.10- which it has seemed to bounce off.
I note the DOW and SP500 both down overnight so we shall see, although yesteray it did the opposite - go figure
