IMO The way PAZ is travelling so far this year it could be a contender for the best appreciated share in NZ.

Well, done my bit to support current SP by buying in. Just sold my THL holdings so thought I needed to put some of my proceeds into another risky category. PAZ seems lower risk to me at the moment - thin trading aside. Risk currently mitigated by too high paper gains in ATM. This gives me more flexibility with risk.

I like their cash, flow, profitability and completion of factory. Should now just be a focus on sales/marketing.

Time I supported a local company - might pop into the factory one day when passing.

Think I've paid a bit over the odds - but wanted to get in before the AGM. Should be a good opportunity to refresh market with news on plans for the year. 1st of the month is my portfolio assessment day so also a good time to rid my self of dross and top up with other opportunities.

I've followed a few of the recent trades - seems to be a lurker there happy to offload at 0.13 (couldn't tempt them at 0.12) but other than that not a lot of appetite to sell.

Now time to sit back and see how this pans out over the next 5 years.

Edit. Got all excited when I checked my Direct Broking account. The trade has gone through already and seems I'm already up 669%. Thats just Paztastic!Posted this on 1 May.

100,000 crossing at $0.19. At this rate I'l be up 50% in a bit more than a month.

Do not know. The last time I spoke to the CEO, just before the agm,he said there was a spread of buyers.
We know there are no intos onboard, yet there has been very heavy buying.
One chap who was at the agm has stated he brought [a good lot] at 13 cents.
I know of a couple of people who have brought some at 14 cents, but not the kind of volume going through.
Total madness, but I did think it could be some company such as SCL.
There was a broker from Hobson Wealth at the agm, perhaps he is recommending them.?
There were two other large holders ,not directors ,at the agm ,perhaps they are fired up.{ I did send an email to one of them, pointing out the growth rate being twice the PE].Sorry such a long post admitting I would not have a clue.
We will have to wait until the next shareholder update, at the companies office,to find out the answer.

P, Thank you for that obviously PAZ is on someones radar based alone on recent turn over, I know that insto cannot invest in companies on the unlisted ex so if we are to gain recognition from all parties we need to be on the main board which would mean lots of new rules to comply with-- not a bad thing either as we would have a different exposure.

What I cannot understand is that yesterday and today shares were traded in PAZ and still the 35,971 shares are on offer while approx. 100,000 shares were traded , does this mean that they were traded off the united platform, if that is correct how does that happen, is a broker contacting a share holder direct to implement a trade.
I thought that all trades in the unlisted market had to go through the unlisted platform !

We are now seeing that with PAZ,with a lot of shares offered for sale at 20 cents and above.
Buyers have gone on holiday, with the highest buyer at 14 cents.
What has surprised me is the huge number of shares traded at increasing prices over the past 8 months or so.

Press Release
PharmaZen pre-tax profit jumps 134% to $1.83 million for the half year.
It has taken biotechnology company PharmaZen Limited just six months to surpass its record full year result of 2018.
Sales for the six months to June 30, jumped 50% to $8.312m from the prior year figure of $5.561m and pre-tax profit increased 134% from $785,000 to $1.839m.
The full year 2018 result was a pre-tax profit of $1.792m on turnover of $12.573m.
Based in Christchurch, PharmaZen is an innovative developer, manufacturer and marketer of science-based, natural, nutritional ingredients. Shares in PharmaZen are traded through the Unlisted securities trading platform.
Managing Director Craig McIntosh described the result as being exceptionally pleasing.
“Our 2018 result gave shareholders a glimpse of the business’s potential as our long-term investments started to come on stream. The first six months of 2019 reinforces that performance but also starts to add some magnitude to the potential,” he said.
The full year pre-tax profit for the company was forecast at the company’s AGM to be $2.8m on turnover of $14.5m. McIntosh advised that the board of directors has since signed off an upgraded full year forecast of $3.9m pre-tax profit on $16.5m turnover.
“While we to tend to err on the conservative side, the first six months have been well beyond expectations and it is an absolute credit to the staff and management that they have been able to accommodate such an increase.
“Not only has the company benefited from the strong demand, but it has also had a six-month run without any major disruption with capital projects.”
McIntosh believes this is a combination of timing and experience gained from prior projects; however, is quick to emphasise it doesn’t mean things are slowing down in terms of expansion.
“We have the resin column plant all onsite and ready for installation and the building fitout for our finished product range is largely complete. The equipment for the facility will arrive over the next two months and will enable us to produce a complete range of finished products – soft gel oils through to hard shell capsules.”
PharmaZen has also commenced design work for a 1,200 sqm building on their adjacent Nuttall Drive properties.
McIntosh was reluctant to divulge what the building would be housing but confirmed it would complete the fullsite development.
“There are a couple of gaps left in our technology portfolio that we would like to have on the current site and we are looking to move our research and development department into a purpose-built facility. This will reinforce the site as our centre of excellence while at the same time allowing expansion in other geographically advantageous locations,” he said.
The management team has also been strengthened with the appointment of Katherine Reardon to head Sales and Marketing for consumer brands.
“Katherine comes to us with extensive industry background and is the ideal person to assist us launch our ranges domestically and internationally.”
The company is in the final stages of strengthening its product development function with further appointments.

In the annual report, the outlook statement features two brands,Airoa and The 5th Quarter, both designed for the Asian markets, including China.
Also in 1st August announcement;"the equipment for the facility will arrive over the next two months and will enable us to produce a complete range of finished products - soft gel oils through to hard shell capsules."
Remember "traceability" and "provence".The Chinese like to buy the same NZ product that is avaliable to NZders, in NZ.Therefore we will see PAZ products Airoa and The 5th Quarter, avaliable retail here in NZ.This is why Katherine Reardon has been appointed to head sales and marketing for consumer brands.

Managing Director Craig McIntosh described the result as being exceptionally pleasing.
Very true and I think its a game changer so I have recently accumulated a very modest stake. Next year we will get the full years annualization of sales from the very recently released Airoa product range as well as a the 5th quarter range to be released later this year. Forecast forward PE for YE 31/12/2019 at 20 cents is just 15.7. When one reflects on that and the rate of growth, some of the overt optimism previously expressed on here appears to be well founded.

Have corrected.
Right then those shares could be the left overs from the 17,841,068 that were held in Custodial Services [ Craig's].
That would account for 11,461,068 hitting the market since 27th March this year.

You're pretty keen Percy topping up at 25 cents (given some on here know you have a substantial holding already).
I'm pretty sure of those on here, you know the company best and also pretty sure in the long run 25 cents will prove to be a visionary buy, (FY19 PE based on forecast is 18 at 23 cents). My hound's nose for a feed is definitely picking up the scent of a very tasty feed coming, (extremely tasty, like my Mum's apple crumble pie), with this but my brain tells me to wait and let them get some more runs on the board before topping up more, (I know I can't expect any more kind donations from Coutta1 lol). My nose is doing battle with my bean counting brain, its a bit of a bugger being a bean counting Beagle lol

The 17,846 was just to take the wife's holding to an even sort of number.Thinking of buying another 20,000 would take our combined holdings to an even number too.!?
Stupid I know.I usually do not bother about numbers, always glad of what I do have.Buying 17,846 or 37,846 would cost under $10,000.Very little compared to the value of our total PAZ holdings.Yes our PAZ holdings are Couta1 sized.
Yes I think 25 cents will look cheap in a couple of years time.
I do not know who holds the Leveraged 6,380,000 holding.May be the big seller's leftovers,or may be a new holder.?
So if the big seller has gone, I think we will see the share price at or over 30cents by PAZ's full year result, due late March, early April, next year.Perhaps the sp would have been over 30 cents already had there not been the big seller .?
And a positive agm will see the sp over 40 cents.
PE of 18 at 23 cents for 2019.2020 will be PAZ's first full year of "full production",so I doubt we will see another 100% growth, however it could be well over 40%.?A lot will depend on acceptance of their new products.
Next announcements are looked forward to with heightened interest.?

Like you Percy now that FY19 is almost over I am pondering / speculating on what the numbers might look like for FY20 given the full years annualization of newly released products, one of which from memory is being released about now very late in the year, maybe only 1-2 months sales this year from that one ? "The fourth quarter 2019 will see the commissioning of resin column facility for botanical extraction and the first of our finished product ranges – AiOra™ will be available at retail".

My sense is 25 cents is probably going to look very cheap 1 year from now in the rear view mirror...not so sure about those other price targets and timelines you mentioned but on a one year view 25 cents doesn't look like an unreasonable ask. That said the forecasted profit growth for FY19 is very substantial and it would be nice to see those results achieved and the runs on the board...
The company forecast for year-end pre-tax profit was $2.8m on turnover of $14.5m but has now been revised to $3.9m on turnover of $16.3m. Extract from half year announcement. Half year update:-
Turnover forecast increase of $1.8m but profit forecast increase of $1.1m on just $1.8m more sales ? Must be a pretty fancy margin on the newly released product ?

Food for thought. What does this suggest about the net profit growth for FY20 given a full years annualization of these new high margin products ?

I think the profit growth for FY20 could be very good given there was other new product released half way through FY19 as well, so "could be well over 40%" is a good way to describe the prospects. It could be well over 50% too :) Then again one must consider the marketing spend to support new product launch...probably best we don't ask Jayne Herdlicka to help :)

23 cents = forward PE of 18. 25 cents = forward PE of 20.
Both pretty conservative numbers for how this company has been growing lately but I note a big step up in forecast profit for FY19.
IF they can achieve this forecast and the forecast for FY20 includes some encouraging news about how demand is strong for their new products, PAZ will have a big year in 2020, REAALY BIG if the directors announce plans to list on the NZX.

Unusual situation that one. Old boys club that don't need capital or money to expand and are happy to keep the status quo is what I hear...

Why would they want to list ? Raise a LOT of capital for a major expansion ? Liquidity for the directors who between them own a massive stake in the company is another possible reason.

If they really want to put a rocket under the share price just list it on the main board and raise some more capital in the process for more expansion !
Then Percy's 35 cents will look like a screaming bargain LOL

That's reasonable price discovery then so that's good.
My take on the quotes not changing is that there's business being done between brokers or in-house within one brokerage firm that's not executing the quotes displayed.

Official forecast for 31/12/2019 gives 1.28 cps earnings after tax up from 0.62 cents per share after tax last year which gives forecast earnings growth of 106% for 2019. https://www.usx.co.nz/uploads/paperclip/documents/1801/original/FY18_Pharmazen_Annual_Report_Elec.pdf?1554330190

At 29 cents PAZ is on a forward PE for the year ended 31 December 2019, (very shortly to be historical) of 22.7. That's actually lower than the average market PE on the NZX but look at the rate of growth and consider the future rate of possible growth ?

Products released half way through the year, (one very late in 2019), will enjoy a full year's annualised sales growth effect in 2020. Given this fact then the next thing to ponder is what might be the rate of eps growth in 2020 ?

Is it really expensive relative to the average PE on the NZX which ahs been reported as 29, given the average earnings growth of NZX listed companies is vastly lower ?

Hmmmm

Percy mentioned earlier in the year regarding an AGM question around turnover expectations within a few years following the latest round of capital expenditure, and the answer was $40M.
The half-year to June saw a 'pre-tax surplus of 1.83M' off the back of 8.3M in turnover. At that ratio we would expect up around ~8.8M surplus on 40M turnover.

Today 304,000 traded at 28 cents per share, which shows a lot of confidence...........................Total value $85,120.

We need to see some numbers now with this one given the share price tripled last year or at least some indication of an updated forecast / confirmation of existing forecast now that full years sales numbers will be known.

Wouldn't it be great if despite not being required too under the Unlisted platform rules, the Directors choose to update the market with its FY20 forecast under the continuous disclosure regime of the NZX... That would represent a maturing of the companies disclosure regime one step further than how they voluntarily decided to comply with director notices of sales and purchases last year, (which was a great step), and represent another big step in the maturing process of eventually migrating to the NZX.

Maybe you could have a word to the Directors Percy ?

Old article but interesting....https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/92162246/pharmazen-factory-extension-costly-but-complete
Extract
"Shares in PharmaZen are traded through the Unlisted securities trading platform and McIntosh said the company was constantly assessing listing on the New Zealand Stock Exchange. "We'd like to generate profits of around $2m first, and to make it worthwhile you would also have to do a capital raising".

If I'm not mistaken both those milestones will have been achieved by the time they roll out their Dec 2019 results in late March / early April... As we also know, last year they improved their disclosure regime for directors share purchases / sales in line with NZX rules despite not being required to on the unlisted platform.

Listing on the NZX sometime in 2020 ?

From PAZ's 2018 annual report.directors' report,page 4.
"Provenance being -knowing not only who you purchased your product from, but who manufactured it.Where it was manufactured and grown, along with traceability, are critical drivers of the global food and supplement industry."
